Happy What's on your workdesk Wednesday. On my desk is my next Kolbie Blume watercolour class, sunset over water. Am a few behind (think there are 10 in the free class online) and missed one (as it used masking fluid and i dont have any) but really enjoyed the sunset.

My 'man bites dog' cards....'missing general, dead suspect'.....oooh!

Morning all, hope you are sitting down?

Look-craft on my desk!!! Ok, admittedly its my bullet journal and my 365 journal ready for August (I can't believe it's August already!!) but still, paint and glue so that counts! It was last night so was only 2 days late for my journal so for me that is a win.

I will keep it short and sweet this week, my spare time is of course allotments and preserving (jam, chutney and a lot of dehydrated courgette crisps!)

So, what's on your workdesk Wednesday?

Only a quick update, this was actually Tuesday evening and i tried updating via my phone so fingers crossed this works! Got really early meetings this morning so thought it best to capture my desk last night. As you can see its my allotment again (well one of them). I was lucky to finish worķ early so i could spend a couple hours on the plot, and lovely it was too.

I even remembered my Man Bites Dog cards! Luckily there was  no one else on the site so no funny looks!

Squashes are finally taking off (i do grow a LOT of them, hence i was SO pleased after 2 yrs of waiting i got my 2nd plot as i get through at least 1 squash a week a year so growing and storing as many as i can saves me a lot of money).

Beans, beetroot, sweetcorn, salads and sweetpeas doing well too.

And this is tonight's harvest, courgettes, potatoes, gooseberries, blackberries, edible flowers and nasturtium pods (which i will pickle as they taste like capers). Alreadý got a load of salad and radish at home from yesterday so that will keep me going for a few days.

So that's sort of my workdesk!

Hello, things are still manic so i am rather behind. On my desk is my 365 journal, it isn't ready for the start of June and to be honest i doubt i will get a chance to do any more until the bank holiday when i get some time off work so hoping i can catch up on outstanding tasks, though there are so many!

Also on my desk is a lovely ATC from Christine aka Bishopsmate. So chuffed to get this, especially at the moment and loving the stamp used it says 'precious moments in time' love it, thanks Christine

My 'man bites dog' cards this week are 'thousands brave downsize lover', nope no idea, some weeks they just don't make sense!

Happy Whats on you  workdesk Wednesday.  Hope you all had a fabulous week?  We were lucky in the UK as the weather wasnt too bad at all, so lots done on the allotment.

Been a bit slow making my return visits, I will try harder, honest!  On my desk this week is a card I need to make for a upcoming birthday and also some paint brushes!  I bought 2 new brushes at the weekend (well I had to walk past the art shop to get to the Bristol Urban Sketcher meet up at the weekend so it seemed like the ideal opportunity!

The reason I was looking for a couple of brushes is that I borrowed this art book from the library.  I looked through my brush roll (mainly filled with my Dad's brushes when I sorted out his kit after he died a few years back) and it didnt look like I had them (the author suggest  synthetic round No 2 and No 6 being the most useful for the 25 techniques in the book).  So, now I have the brushes I dont really have any excuse not to a least make a start on the techniques!!

At the weekend we also had another Bristol Urban Sketchers meet up (physical rather than the zoom ones we have been doing over the past couple of years).  This time it was in Berkley Square, a lovely outdoors venue, nice and quiet with tree cover (in case we had some showers).  There was about 17 of us sketching at various places across the park, some on the grass (some really organised who brought their own small fold up seats)

This was my sketch, I tried something different this time as I splashed some colour down on the page first in the general areas and then added the detail after.  Something I think I will try again as it wasnt as daunting as an empty page!

My "Man Bites Dog" cards this week - well, new prez!  You couldnt make this up!  These are random cards, honest!!  Anyhoo, are you sharing your desk?  What have you been up to?

Happy What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday and I hope those in the UK survived the 3 storms we had in the past few days.  Boy it was windy, then floods, then hail, more rain and then more wind!  Red alerts from the Met office (let alone 2) are thankfully rare.

Anyway, on my desk this week is an absolute mess!

I am making the last of my Christmas cards (well until November).  Most years I try to make 20 cards by the end of January.  However, this year has been a bit manic and like many of you, by the time I finish work I am too knackered to do anything let alone housework or crafting.  However I have managed to make 18 cards in readiness for Christmas!!  I know, the C word, BUT I do find making this many at the start of the year just takes a little bit of pressure off the latter end of the year.

My "Man Bites Dog" cards this week are "Judge Blames Suspect Mayor!"  Well, as I live near a city with a Mayor that are currently undergoing a bit of "debate" regarding their budget probably best not to comment!

I am now going to put my festive papers, off cuts, stamps and toppers away and I need to crack on with making some birthday cards as I have gotten a little low on them in the past couple months.

So, do share, whats on your workdesk?

Morning all, just a quick update from me this week, on my desk is my one sketch a day journal my brother and sis in law got me for Christmas.  Rather than stressing and trying to do a sketch a day I am doing as suggested by a fellow Bristol Urban Sketcher and doing one every couple of days (or about every 3 or 4 days as it turns out).

Whilst some of the sketches have been exploring shading etc I must admit I am loving doing various cartoon sketches, especially Rod Biddulph (which is the girl with the red haired top knot on the top right of the book)!!  His videos are so easy to follow and just suit my learning style (aimed at kids, I am not going to pretend, but I enjoy them and that's the point!).

My "Man Bites Dog" cards this week....ooooh, it's been a while since I thought about him but 'Indicted Prez Bites Wife'!!!!  No comment, moving swiftly along, What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday?

Happy hump day where we share What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday.  Well, on my desk this week its a bit of a mess to be honest.  I am finishing off my February 365 Journal (amazed I am only a couple days behind!) and also on my desk is my Moleskin sketchbook.

I realised from the comments last week the image wasn't too clear so this was the stamp that I was using and I must admit I do love this saying.

This is a closeup of my sketchbook.  At the weekend the Bristol Urban Sketchers that I have belonged to for quite a few years now did a virtual zoom sketch from Mahon in Spain!!  I decided to sketch 3 locations, one was a night scene on the edge of the coast with all the buildings and boats lit up, one was a rocky coast and the one in the middle a lovely old building.

My "Man Bites Dog" cards this week (ironically) are actually 'Convict Dog bites Star!!'   or possibly 'Convict star bits dog'

Morning peeps and happy What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday.  A quick update from me as bit chokka with work so haven't had time to craft (or much else to be honest) BUT I did get a chance to do some mending!  I noticed my gloves had a hole in them!  Well, those that know me are well aware that I am "frugal" and will try to mend or reuse stuff if at all possible (it is how I was brought up and it never really left me!).  So on my desk are my gloves and a pin cushion that I believe was a gift many years ago from Lunchlady Jan which is still my pin cushion and is kept in my sewing box and used all the time!

The gloves only took about 10 mins to fix so hopefully they will last me through the rest of the winter and i can look into a new pair for next winter (though to be honest they will probably be used next winter until they fall apart or family buy me some for next Christmas!)

My "Man Bites Dog" cards this week are 'Hubby Revealed Romantic Tricks' - ooh eer missus!!!

So, What's on your workdesk this week?  If you care to join us then the lovely Queen of Desks (and links etc) can be found the the amazing Julia's blog here

Happy first What's on Your Workdesk of 2022!

I hope that you were able to celebrate in what ever way you do and our thoughts are with those that are no longer with us and their loved ones at this time of year.

It was quiet for us, just the two of us BUT it was time off work so that is always a brucie bonus!

On my workdesk this week is my 365 journal for January all ready and started to be filled in and also a "One Sketch a Day" visual journal which was a Christmas present from my brothers family

No idea once I am back in the throws of the day job how behind I will get with it (I get behind with Inktober each year) but I like the idea of doing more sketches as I often get out of the habit.  My "Man Bites Dog" cards this week are "Fake Judge Stuns Killer"!!  Wow, moving swiftly on!

This is a closer look to my first 3 sketches, they are copied from some books I have like "Sketching for the absolute beginner" by Peter Cronin (Christmas gift from hubbie)

Also this week saw our tradition from the past few years where we sit down and go through our Gratitude Jar.  Its just an old coffee tin covered in tape and inside I keep a pen and a small clip with cut up backing papers.  Then, whenever something we are grateful for happens we make a note of the date and one line summarising.  Then each new year we sit down and randomly pick one and read them out loud.  Even with the past couple years there has been things we have been grateful for, it may be as simple as a dailywalk listening to bird song or a video call with family or friends, simple pleasures.

So, What's on your workdesk this Wednesday?

Happy What's on your workdesk Wednesday. Hope you all had a good week be it work, christmas etc. No idea why last week a few of you had issues leaving comments on my blog, not changed any settings so fingers crossed it was only a blip.

Only a quick update this morning as this is my desk

Yes for some godforsaken reason i decided to clean my craft room! No idea why but i am clearing down all the shelves to wipe down, then the desk, drawers and floor! I won't be sorting just cleaning! Things you do on a day off!

See you on the other side!

Happy hump day where we share Whats on Your Workdesk Wednesday, been hectic so havent been able to pop round many (sorry) BUT I had to make a coupe more cards last night (when the photo was taken) as I ran out so it seemed perfect to take a quick photo and do a blog update (I spend hours staring at a screen for my pay the bills job so dont like being on line much out of hours) and I remembered to turn my decorative lights on too!

I also remembered my "Man Bites Dog" cards this week and they are 'Cruel Actor Dumps Romantic Wife'  oh that's cheerful just before Christmas!!

Hope you are all well and getting ready for Christmas, however you spend it, my family and friends are all over the globe so no doubt we will do some video chats and eat a lot of food and probably a lot of sprouts too (well there are some still on my allotment so would be rude not to!).

Stay safe and Merry Christmas

WOYWW and Bristol USK

Morning peeps and happy hump day which means we share What's on our Workdesks on a Wednesday thanks to the amazing queen of desks Julia (link over on the right).

On my desk this week are a couple of birthday cards I am making.  We have more birthdays in December than in any other month of the year!  I also put some sparkly multicoloured lights on around my desk and also my spider plant.  I don't tend to do much in the way for Christmas decorating but I must admit I tend to do sparkly lights in my craft room all year round - well why not?

On the right of my desk is my "Fabulous people" address book and on the left is my travel sketch book from Oxfam that i use for urban sketching.  This weekend rather than an actual meet up the Bristol Urban sketchers did a virtual sketch crawl in Toledo in Spain and I managed to call in for the last 50 mins, so only managed a quick street sketch from Googlestreet view but it was lovely to actually spend some time sketching and chatting, albeit virtually, with the other sketchers

Forgot to get my "man bites dog" cards out this week as its been a hectic couple weeks at the pay the bills job and I keep piling jobs up at home so only just remembered it was Tuesday (when I took the photo) and that I missed the last WOYWW and was determined to meet up this week! Hopefully I will remember next week!

Happy hump day where we share our workdesks thanks to the Queen of Desks the lovely Julia (link here )

After missing out last week (not sure where the week went, one minute it was Monday then next it was Friday and I was logging out of work!) I was determined to post this week.  This is my desk last night as I am updating my 365 Journal ready for December.

My Man Bites Dog cards are "Actor Blames Wifes Fans!!" oooh!!  I also realised my date stamp (which I have had for YEARS) runs out at the end of 2022 so I will need to remember to buy one, presume they still make these as I find them really useful.

Happy hump day where we share our workdesks thanks to the Queen of Desks the lovely Julia (link over on the right).  This was my desk last night.  To be honest not a lot going on, the colour wheel at the back has fallen off its hook so I just need to put it back and the mouse, notebook, pens and yellow post it tags are work stuff that needs putting away (rather than the usual shoved to the back routine).

The brown square on the desk is actually a piece of board from the back of a picture clip frame that my mum was throwing out but I rescued the backing as I thought i may be able to paint on it and create a piece of art to abandon, though knowing me it will probably sit at the back of the desk for weeks before being put in a box not to see the light of day until a few months time!

My "Man Bites Dog" cards this week are 'Devoted lawyer missing brave star' - well with the Britney Spears story perhaps its related to that?!

Anyway, whats on your workdesk this wedesday?

Happy hump day, which means its another Whats on Your Workdesk Wednesday where we share our desks across the globe thanks to the Queen of Desks Julia (full details can be found here).

This photo was taken last night, I had a couple cheeky days off work and this enabled me to catch up on the allotment (weeded, compost added, garlic etc all planted and covered) and also finally catch up on my Inktober tags. Each year I use luggage tags as they hang nicely on a ring from the underneath of the shelf on my desk and take up so little room when hanging there.

It is only when I spread them all out that I realise just how much room they could take up each year!

I quite like Day9, the prompt "pressure" with Homer Simpson with the devil and angel on his shoulders!

I was quite pleased with Day 12, "Stuck" with the boy licking the freezing post!!

and from the final batch I like Say 28, "Crispy" and also Day 30, "Slither".  I do enjoy taking part each year and I know I should do more but finding the time (or prioritising the time if I am honest) is not easy but now the evenings are closing in I tend to find more time to craft as its often too dark after work to spend too long on the allotment.  Also, I know a lot of crafters are making the "C word" items and I really should crack on with that too!!

So, what's on your workdesk this Wednesday?

WOYWW

Hello peeps, only a quick update from me as the pay the bills job is busy and I have been busy in the evenings catching up on tasks that means sadly very little crafting (though I have done a few bits of inktober catching up but not quite there yet so will post when caught up).

On my desk this week (well last night) the desk was empty (well apart from the usual bits I keep on it) so I thought I would share what I currently have in my window sill (apart from houseplants and micro greens)-yep my winter squashes are hardening off nicely ready to be stored for use through out the winter months. Now I have to admit that I have not 1 but 3 window sills that are currently filled with winter squash (as they are most years in the autumn) so I have to take my hat off to my long suffering husband as he has to look at them and not knock them off!

The one on the right is a spaghetti squash, the blue large one at the back is, in my opinion, the best tasting squash there is, Crown Prince (I only managed to grow 2 of these this year on the allotment so they are very precious) the orange one is Uchiki Kuri (often known as red onion squash, I grew about 7 of these) and the striped one is Harlequin.  Now, none of my harlequin grew this year BUT I found a local farm who grew loads and flogged them from their gate for £1 each - so I bought 6 as I know that if they are ripened on a window sill for a couple weeks AND have the stalk attached then they should store happily on a shelf (and they look pretty) for several months and most years these see me through the winter months nicely.

My "Man Bites Dog" cards this week are 'Naked Intern Tricks Mayor'!! Well, as we in Bristol are one of the few cities in the UK to have a Mayor I don't think I should comment!!  ;-)

Happy hump day and another What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday.  Well, this was my desk last night as yesterday I had another hospital appointment (more xrays) so I took advantage of sitting in the waiting room and not being able to work for a short while and tried catching up on my Inktober tags!  I sketched a few thoughts and finished some off when I got home in the evening.  Still a bit behind but I am sure I will catch up soon.

The "Man Bites Dog" cards this week, well 'Crazy Heiress Drugs Killer' - no comment!

Thought  I would share my sketchbook, last weekend I finally got to do a physical catch up with the Bristol Urban Sketchers.  It was my first physical one for a year, we had been doing zoom sketch calls (which were a lifeline for me) but it was brilliant to meet up with members old and new, we even managed to have a couple of cheeky drinks too-admittedly we were lucky as the weather was lovely so we sketched outside and the post meet up drinks were outside too so easy to socially distance, boy I have missed that!

Hello peeps, back again after a couple weeks off work for my annual leave and into the throws once again of Inktober.  I have taken part in this for about 6 years now and the last 5 years I have completed the month on tags held together with a ring.  I then hang then from the shelf above my desk and they take up SO little room but can easily be referred back to for inspiration or just a general gawp!

As per usual I am a few days behind so I took some timeout last night (when the photo was taken) to try and catch up.  Not quite there yet but getting there and i am sure with a wet weekend forecast I will have plenty of opportunity to make up any lost time!

My "Man bites dog" cards this week are just odd! "Mob boss Dog sues Brave nurse!!"  well, anything is possible these days it seems, so why not!

Also perched on the right against my small drawers are some great quotation stamps from Jenny at The Artist Stamper.  I won them during the Paralympics when they ran a lucky dip and how fab I won this set!

Just also a quick mention, Lynne commented on my last post for the Elderberry vinegar recipe, always happy to share so i have included it in the comments on my previous post, feel free to share, make and enjoy (I also make it with strawberries during the glut season).
