Woyww 17th Anniversary

Happy What's on your workdesk Wednesday, its our 17th Anniversary when the amazing Julia started it off and then a couple years ago the baton was passed to the amazing Sarah. I have been a member, I think, from early in 2010, so 16 years and love the updates from different crafters, I learn so much and find inspiration. We often do an ATC swap, aware after the sad passing of Neet, I think there was talk of exchanging some of her swaps. I couldn't find one so decided to make a simple atc in case we are swapping with the next person on the list, if not, no worries was nice to make something.
My Man Bites Dog cards this week are 'teen model tricks tycoon'....randomly drawn from the pack as usual....but no comment 😉
this is my atc, nice and simple, hopefully I can pass it on kyla

Happy What's on your workdesk Wednesday. I cant believe I am actually making Christmas cards!! most years I make about 20 by the end of January. this year i can only find 3 so am guessing work took over and i didnt get round to it. So, just remembered that family overseas means i need to get them posted asap....so i need to make some!!
decided to get my sizzix die cutter out and also emboss some die cut baubles, I plan on stamping a background and greeting on the cards. not used some of these inks for a while so hoping they are ok and not too dried out. Main thing is, i am making cards!! forgot my man bites dog cards again but still plenty of headlines to wonder at on the telly and paper!! first time I have thought about xmas this year, better crack on i suppose! hope your all better prepped than i am this year kyla

Happy What's on your workdesk Wednesday. A quick apology as wasn't able to revisit many desks last week as didnt have much of a signal as was down in a folk festival watching amazing music and dancers all through the town and local parks! However, my on my desk is the reason there is a bit of a stink in the air at home!! I am cleaning my plant labels from the allotment and a few yrs ago found out the easiest way is acetone! Now, as we know us crafter can find various jobs for random stash and when i ran out of acetone a few years ago a fellow crafter mention some cheap false gel nail removers are acetone based!! result, cheap and 3rd year of use of these labels (sadly sometimes they snap). i also have some wooden ones I made last year and have some ideas for others I may be able to make over the winter.
as to my 'man bites dog ' cards this week....they are randomly drawn but wow, not a great headline!! On a more positive note, managed to pop into town for a couple hrs this week and did some more gromit spotting!!
love that these bring families visiting Bristol and raises money for the children's hospital, they area sheer delight. stay cool, as uk is in its 4th heatwave this year already! kyla

Morning all, apologies but didn't make all the return visits last week, time just disappeared! So, this is the apple picker I tried making last week

I attached it to the end of the stick and went out to give it a try. However, now I know why people screw them to the sticks as it dislodged in the tree and I was left there poking the tree until the plastic bottle fell back down!

However, my desk last night was the kitchen as I picked loads of elderberry and made my next batch of elderberry vinegar, woke up this morning and there is a slight smell of vinegar around the house but it's so worth it as I LOVE this vinegar. It's like a victorian shrub, so can be added to drinks, salads or food (we use it in pasta, chilli, stews).

Hope you are all having a great week and kook forward to visiting and getting inspired.

Morning all, hope you are sitting down?

Look-craft on my desk!!! Ok, admittedly its my bullet journal and my 365 journal ready for August (I can't believe it's August already!!) but still, paint and glue so that counts! It was last night so was only 2 days late for my journal so for me that is a win.

I will keep it short and sweet this week, my spare time is of course allotments and preserving (jam, chutney and a lot of dehydrated courgette crisps!)

So, what's on your workdesk Wednesday?

Happy Whats on you  workdesk Wednesday.  Hope you all had a fabulous week?  We were lucky in the UK as the weather wasnt too bad at all, so lots done on the allotment.

Been a bit slow making my return visits, I will try harder, honest!  On my desk this week is a card I need to make for a upcoming birthday and also some paint brushes!  I bought 2 new brushes at the weekend (well I had to walk past the art shop to get to the Bristol Urban Sketcher meet up at the weekend so it seemed like the ideal opportunity!

The reason I was looking for a couple of brushes is that I borrowed this art book from the library.  I looked through my brush roll (mainly filled with my Dad's brushes when I sorted out his kit after he died a few years back) and it didnt look like I had them (the author suggest  synthetic round No 2 and No 6 being the most useful for the 25 techniques in the book).  So, now I have the brushes I dont really have any excuse not to a least make a start on the techniques!!

At the weekend we also had another Bristol Urban Sketchers meet up (physical rather than the zoom ones we have been doing over the past couple of years).  This time it was in Berkley Square, a lovely outdoors venue, nice and quiet with tree cover (in case we had some showers).  There was about 17 of us sketching at various places across the park, some on the grass (some really organised who brought their own small fold up seats)

This was my sketch, I tried something different this time as I splashed some colour down on the page first in the general areas and then added the detail after.  Something I think I will try again as it wasnt as daunting as an empty page!

My "Man Bites Dog" cards this week - well, new prez!  You couldnt make this up!  These are random cards, honest!!  Anyhoo, are you sharing your desk?  What have you been up to?

Hello peeps, hump day again so that means sharing our desk again with the lovely Queen of desks Julia!  On my Workdesk this Wednesday is another card in the making.  The other week I carved a small scene and did a few prints of it at the same time and its perfect timing as 2 friends of mine have recently moved to pastures new (hence the field and fence I carved in the lino!) so they are perfect for new home cards.

My "Man Bites Dog" cards this week are "Lawyer Wanted Thousands, Crazy Star" - well there has been a few similar news stories over the past few weeks along these lines in real life so to be honest when I picked the cards out randomly it made me think of some of the recent news stories from over in the states.

On the right of the desk are my flesh coloured isotonic pressure gloves for the rheumatoid arthritis, I have used these for a few years now and found when I am typing a lot as it helps to wear them.  When I am doing heavier tasks like ironing etc the hospital gave me gloves with metal bars in to help steady the wrists and they help but I cant wear them for too long.  At the back of the desk is my stress ball (purple) for my hand exercises and also I use it behind my shoulder to roll up and down the wall, it helps and the physio recommended it (they mentioned a tennis ball but this is currently all I have and it seems to help so all good).  At the back is also my mouse, earphones, highlighter etc all dumped from work and pushed to one side so I can craft for a bit instead.

Happy What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday where, thanks to the lovely Queen of Desks Julia (link over on the right) people across the globe bare our desks, be them clean and tidy (a rare occurrence!) or beautifully crafty and full of ideas for "enabling" fellow deskers for some new crafty stash we hadn't even thought about before!!  Then there are desks like mine!  You know, that moment when you get what you think is a good idea "to sort out x,y,z...."   yep, no idea why we do that!!

I thought it would be a good idea to sort out one (yes I have several) of my pencil cases!  No idea why, think I spotted it and my brain had a bit of space in it and thought....ooh!!!

This case is actually a free toiletries bag from New Zealand airlines from a few years back!!  Perfect with its lining to hold pens, paints etc (as you do!) and has 3 other smaller pencil cases inside that I have collected from craft shows and freebies from trade shows etc!!

My 'Man Bites Dog' cards this week were pulled out in order (which is unusual as I often have to move them about to make sense) "Fake  Priest Tricks Missing Wife"!!  oooh, another one that makes you think!

So, dare you bare and share your desk with us all?  Go on, we are are friendly bunch and love nosing at others workspaces too!

Happy hump day and What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday. The past few weeks have been super busy with work and also the allotment.  I have been making a LOT of chutney, pickled nasturtium seeds and jam.  At the weekend I made another batch of courgette and ginger jam, which has been a go to recipe for me with the allotment as there are often a lot of courgettes!

I don't tend to print much stuff at the moment so printing preserve sticky labels every couple of weeks (which is what I was doing last night when I took this photo) is a way to make sure the printer ink doesn't dry up (as it did last year and we had to replace it even though it had hardly been used!  I was NOT impressed!!) .

My "Man Bites Dog" cards this week are ' Cruel Exec Sues Hero'!!  Not very pleasant but they were the random cards I pulled from the pack this week!

So, What's on Your Workdesk this Wednesday?

Happy What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday, well I have a cheeky day off today so my desk is somewhat different, this morning it is the kitchen.  We are just on the start of the new preserving season (I have already made a large batch of Wild Garlic salt and a jar of dried Wild Garlic powder in the past few days so the new preserving year is well under way!) and this is going to be Dandelion Honey!  It's dandelions flowers, water, lemon and sugar, that's it.  I love the taste of it and last year I did NOT make enough so this year I am hoping to make a few more jars!

The allotment site has loads of dandelions and as its fenced there are very few dogs or people so less chance of them being polluted.  Its nice an easy to make and I use it instead of agave which is my usual "go to" liquid sweetner but this is a LOT cheaper (hence I need to make a lot more this year as I ran out by the Autumn last year!!)

Forgot to bring my Man Bites Dog cards down, sorry will try to remember next week, I will also try to do another post as I have been doing some more sketches recently, yesterday I sketched on the allotment and we have another Bristol Urban sketchers virtual event at the weekend so I will try and post my sketches.

So, are you sharing your desk (or workspace) with us? All the details are the the lovely Julia's Queen of desks blog here

Happy hump day where we share What's on your workdesk Wednesday! Well, this was late last  night, sadly my workdesk is filled with pay the bills jobs so only a small space, but still space for me to finally finish my sketchbook! Yes the final page which means i get to start a new sketchbook!! Hurrah!

In the final double page spread i sketched some architectural sketches, thought they would be good practice for my urban sketchers meet ups.

Only a quick update as super busy with pay the bills job, but hope to stop by some desks later in the week.

Happy crafting
