WOYWW

Hello peeps, hump day again so that means sharing our desk again with the lovely Queen of desks Julia!  On my Workdesk this Wednesday is another card in the making.  The other week I carved a small scene and did a few prints of it at the same time and its perfect timing as 2 friends of mine have recently moved to pastures new (hence the field and fence I carved in the lino!) so they are perfect for new home cards.

My "Man Bites Dog" cards this week are "Lawyer Wanted Thousands, Crazy Star" - well there has been a few similar news stories over the past few weeks along these lines in real life so to be honest when I picked the cards out randomly it made me think of some of the recent news stories from over in the states.

On the right of the desk are my flesh coloured isotonic pressure gloves for the rheumatoid arthritis, I have used these for a few years now and found when I am typing a lot as it helps to wear them.  When I am doing heavier tasks like ironing etc the hospital gave me gloves with metal bars in to help steady the wrists and they help but I cant wear them for too long.  At the back of the desk is my stress ball (purple) for my hand exercises and also I use it behind my shoulder to roll up and down the wall, it helps and the physio recommended it (they mentioned a tennis ball but this is currently all I have and it seems to help so all good).  At the back is also my mouse, earphones, highlighter etc all dumped from work and pushed to one side so I can craft for a bit instead.

Happy crafting

Kyla

  2. Do you find it difficult doing the carving? I was wondering if my hands would be able to cope with it. Do you need a lot of pressure? Well done for keeping up with the exercises. Have a great week Angela #7

    1. Angela, no not at all, even with my rheumatoid arthritis aka manky hands. The traditional grey hard lino is more of a struggle but better for detail HOWEVER I often use speedy carve and easy carve and all of them can also be gently warmed before to make it easier (on a radiator or VERY gently with a hairdryer)

  5. Pastures new…fence, fields, I get it! MBD refers surely to Britney!! Good news about the exercises on your shoulder, am thinking that a tennis ball would hurt till you got the pressure right, and that takes ages and then you’ve put yourself off! Having said that…whatever helps.

  6. Interesting. Those gloves look like a thicker version of the ones darling daughter wears to help her CP. Glad your crafting can still happen, at least a bit, and best of luck with your therapy. It can be a long road, I know. MBD is good and yes, echos of the actual news - funny how that seems to happen a lot...

    Happy WOYWW, late again
