Hello just a quick update and apology. 

I haven't been able to revisit any blogs or do many updates (this is via my phone again so fingers crossed it works!) when i finish work my body is screaming for some fresh air and non screen time so i am grateful for the allotment but i will try harder as i need to try and do some crafting, evening if its outside in the garden for an hr ! 

Anyway whingeing over, on my workdesk this Wednesday is a lovely card from Julia with some lovely words inside, it meant so much to receive it, thank you Julia

Cards update

Just  a quick update on a few cards I have made.

These were the cat stamped image, I thought it made sense to colour a few at the same time to make a batch, and to be honest it worked out quite well as I made 4 in only 30 mins.

I also coloured a couple of these hedgehog images (since it was the same colour palette) to add to my greeting card stash

Think I may need to get grungy next time as my hands are looking too clean!

TH Birds

Just a quick update on my latest make.  Still on a challenge to use up stash I decided to use some of the stamped images I stamped from a previous WOYWW crop (waving to my 'enablers' Shaz and Helen if I remember correctly!!).

I stamped lots of images on plain card at the crop and later colour them in to use for a variety of different projects.

This project is unusual for me as it is quite a plain card and only one layer-but for me it works and I think it will be a good card for those occasions we all have where we struggle to find words for a friend but we want them to know we are thinking of them.

Repetitive colouring to ease the woes

Hello peeps.

The 'pay the bills' job has been taking over my free time at the moment so I have had very little time to craft.  On those occasions when I only have 15 minutes I try to grab my coloured pencils and spend a few minutes colouring.

Certainly in the UK the colouring craze has really taken off over the past couple of years.  

About 4 years ago I started colouring again, mainly through zentangles and journalling but the phenomena of adult colouring means there are many more books to choose from.

My favourite is a Sci-Fi graphic novel colouring book but at the moment I am quite enjoying the repetitive nature of this foliage book.

My pencils are just the cheap ones I have had since I was a kid (literally the ones I had as a pre-teen!) but they do the job.  I have been looking into the pros and cons of a couple of different types (polychromos and coloursoft are the two that keep appealing to me) and may treat myself for my birthday.

Red, red wine....

Just a quick update, I thought I would stamp up some images from the lovely stamp Shaz gifted me at the recent crop.  I have been after a decent sized wine bottle stamp for AGES (literally years) and Shaz kindly gave me this one.

So I stamped it on card with memento ink and was really surprised at how fine, crisp and detailed the image was.

A quick blast with the heat gun to set the ink and I started colouring it with inktense pencils applied with a wet brush so that I got that 'fluid' look.

I set the colours with a quick spray (I normally use a spray sealant but I was being lazy so grabbed my hairspray!) and was really pleased with the outcome.

I plan on making some masks so that I can stamp the glass and bottle separately and also mask the words and the wine label-I will let you know how I get on.

Welcome to another What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday....only 7 more until Christmas!!!

Not that I am worried....after all I have only made one present so far!!!

So with this in mind you'd think I was cracking on making presents...but no, I am sat here colouring in!!

Like many others I do find this a calming distraction.  Rather than the Sci-Fi colouring comic book I have used previously I thought I would pull out my Secret Garden one that I bought over a two years ago, one of the first in the craze.  Sometimes you just need to do something different.

My "Man Bites Dog" cards this week were 'Priest Burns Lost Tourist' ....ooh that sounds like a script from a film!

 Finally I am able to do another update-sorry it has been so long, the pay the bills job and a holiday to Malta (some fabulous street art which I will blog about soon) means I have not been about much.

On my desk this week is some colouring.  Now, I know colouring is taking the UK by storm but as many of you will know my tastes are not conventional so  I was pleased to find this colouring book:

 Much more my style. Each page is a vintage comic cover.

I wish I could draw like this but instead I can have fun colouring.

On my last WOYWW I mentioned I have been looking for a bottle stamp for a while and a few of you sent me details of ones that are available in the UK, so a huge thanks for that.

The only bottle item I have are a couple of sheets of peel-offs which I use to make cards like this

The peel-offs are attached to white card and I colour in the image and use a light grey to add some shadow to give it a little depth.  I matted the image onto some left over gold card and the vintage postcard background is yet more of my wallpaper samples!  I added a small amount of raffia to the left of the card (reminds me of the Mateus Rose bottles of my youth!).

Good for male or female cards and add a "congratulations" stamp or peel-off and it works for a variety of occasions.

Stamped images ready for colouring

Every now and again The Coven have a stamping evening and we stamp up lots of each others images.  It is cheaper than buying stamps and means that if I have a few minutes to spare I have a stash of images I can colour. Also, sometimes it is nice to just sit and colour.  I find it meditative and great if my mojo is taking a break.

This Greenhouse was coloured with Inktense pencils, matted and layered on some scrap green card, the edge of the card stamped with a swirl stamp and a flower added for texture.

A nice and simple card.

Raindrops keep falling on my head

"Raindrops keep falling on my head" so the song goes-I don't know about that, but it has gotten mighty chilly recently (but then it is January in the UK so I am not sure why I should be surprised!)

 I thought I would take a break from posting Christmas present makes (I think there is only one more to go) and post the finished cards from the colouring in I was doing on a previous WOYWW.

To the stamped and coloured image I also added some glossy accents and a strip of scrap paper with some scrap lace over the top (I am trying to make cards from mainly my scrap box in January and so far I have made about 15 - its a big scrap box!!)

 The leaf is made from a tomato puree tube cut open, cleaned, flattened, dyed with alcohol inks then die cut.

 This one is using my new rain drop stamp as a background (at the last WOYWW crop I saw Shaz Silverwolf's stamps and fell in love with ALL OF THEM!!). I thought it would add some interest to the background without having to cut up any more precious card!

I thought these cards would be good for a variety of occasions from Valentines right through to "I'm Sorry".  Cards without words is sometimes all you need to let someone know you are thinking of them.
