Butterfly birthday card

Just a quick update on the card I was making, finally finished it with a rub on butterfly that I added some glitter to (its one of those double sided sticky ones, I have had it loose for AGES).

and the rest? From my scrap box of course!!  Yes, it is quite a big box BUT I have ordered it into small folders of similar colour ways so it does make it a bit quicker to see what I have!

What have you guys been making?
I hope to pop round a few blogs this weekend and check them out

Easter card

Hello peeps, just a quick update as realised I hadn't shared the Easter card I made.

It was an embossed background, hand coloured stamped image and a peel off (the left over wording) in the centre of the card.  Nice and simple and uses more scraps up so all good!

Cards update

Just  a quick update on a few cards I have made.
These were the cat stamped image, I thought it made sense to colour a few at the same time to make a batch, and to be honest it worked out quite well as I made 4 in only 30 mins.

I also coloured a couple of these hedgehog images (since it was the same colour palette) to add to my greeting card stash

Think I may need to get grungy next time as my hands are looking too clean!

A few more cards

I finished my penguin cards!

I thought I would keep then nice and clean with just a little colour on the beaks, some shading and a sentiment.  I then matted it onto a micro dotted background paper.

Then I was on a roll and found some embossed papers I made ages ago so decided to add some ribbon, flowers, leaves and pearls to another card!

I am hoping this productive run continues!

Cards update

Hello peeps, just a quick update on the card I was making on Wednesday.
This is the hot air balloon card, not too much going on (nice and flat so perfect for posting overseas etc) but it used up one of my masterboards and a stamped image so I suppose thats 2 bits of card less in the room!!

This is the valentines card I made for my hubby.  It was some leftover masterboard from ages ago and I die cut it and stitched round it.  I used 2 backing papers one with the kiss and one with a guitar (since my hubby is a bass guitar player in the punk band The Setbacks).

2 makes and hopefully I can find time to make some more soon

Upcycled cards

A few weeks back I showed some cards I made from an old calendar.
These are from another calendar we bought as I love the artist style.

They hint back to a style from my younger days and I thought they would make great toppers for cards covering a variety of occasions.

Simple cards but I do like them.

Tag cards

Just a quick update on some cards I made recently.
I used some tags to mop up some inks I was using and left them to the side until inspiration hit me!  Well, a few weeks later I suddenly remembered I had some purple flowers so decided to add them with a sentiment to the tags.  They then sat there for a few more days until inspiration struck again and managed to get 3 cards out of one sheet of backing paper so happy with that.

Slowly but surely I am getting through some of my older stash, seriously, it always amazes me how much I have!

Quick card update

I made a couple more cards, this time upcycling pictures from the back of a calendar I had the other year.  I also added some glass fishes as embellishments.

Nice and clean cards which is unusual for me!

Oriental cards

Finally made some cards recently, I know the recipient of one of these has opened it so I can publish it now.

I used pages from a book I bought as background papers, love oriental books as the papers are often really thin but smooth so take inks etc really well.

I also added images I matted and layered and some embellishments in the bottom right.

Now off to make more cards, I may be on a roll!!

Japanese inspired card

I am trying to use up my stash as I have amassed far too much over the years.

This card is made using a page from a book (love the script) as the background and I matted and layered a Japanese image adding a dimensional topper (I cut the back post off so it sits a bit more flush against the page.

A clean card which for me is unusual (I nearly added some ink around the edges but resisted!)

Birthday cow card

I made this card recently for my mates birthday.
I love the saying "call when its time for cake"!
The background is once again my paint sprays this time with some watercolour splashed over the top.

I fussy cut the cow out and mat and layered the sentiment onto green foiled card and edged the card with the chisel tip end of a promarker, which if you draw it along at an angle is really easy to get a nice even line all around your card.

Saturday, 16 March 2019

This is a really late post as I just realised that I forgot to blog about the cards I made in February for valentines day (or any other reason as they are always blank inside so can be multi use).  I die cut some painted card and used my craft sewing machine (a small mini cheap one I bought a few years ago for paper crafting only rather than using my decent sewing machine as paper and card created a lot of fluff and blunts the needles SO quickly if you want to use them on fabric after-so I keep the 2 separate) to add a zig zag stitch all around the edge and left the threads dangling.

Then I added a strip of patterned card down the edge to bring it all together.
Quite plain and simple but I quite like the added dimension of the thread.

Another scrap card

Whilst I had my scraps out earlier this week I thought I would use the left over pieces from the card on Wednesday to make another scrap card.

To make this card I had to layer many thinner pieces of scrap card but as all the colours tie in nicely I think it works ok and the texture of the embossed piece (the pale) doesn't show up that great in the photo but it does add some nice dimension.

So another scrap card made and my scrap box is slowly reducing-I say slowly because I am not really sure I can see a difference even though I have made quite a few cards only using scraps over the past few weeks!!

Any other tips for scraps would be grateful received.

Scrap card

I finally found time to make another scrap card.
This time the papers have come from a clothes catalogue!

One of my favourite designers is Gudrun Sjoden.  She has one shop in the UK (in London) and I am a HUGE fan of her colourful, sustainable, organic clothing range (most of my clothes come from charity shops but this is the one indulgence I allow myself).

The catalogue is printed on lovely paper and I managed to use one of the pages to create a card with some flat backed toppers that I have had for AGES!

Another scrap card made-yet still the scrap box looks full!!!

Clean scrap card and organised too

Just a quick update for another scrap card I made.

This one is unusual for me as it is quite a 'clean' card.
I don't tend to do neat and clean cards as I tend to be messy and end up flicking paint or ink over anything pale or clean (hence I tend to craft in dark clothes or wearing a special apron and old dust jacket of my dads that is already covered in paint and glue!

But here is proof!  A clean and organised scrap card!

Woo-hoo!  Long may this continue as I have a lot of card blanks to use up and the scrap box isn't feeling any lighter!

Anniversary card

Just a quick update to show a card I made for my brother and sister in law for their wedding anniversary a couple of weeks ago (wanted to be sure it got there before I blogged it!)

My sister in law loves hummingbirds so I used a topper and created some depth using some foam sticky pads.  I created the base card by embossing just one side of the card on my sizzix.  I don't have any large embossing plates so had to work out where the repeat was in the plate so I could match up the pattern to cover the whole card.  A bit fiddly but I like the effect as it adds some good depth and texture.

Butterfly scrap card

Well I cannot believe it, another card made from my scraps box!

The butterfly is on painted card which I gesso'd over and used as a die cut butterfly a LONG time ago but I liked the left over piece-hence it was in my scraps box.
I attached it with my Tim Holtz tiny attacher as I love the fact that these staples go through so many different mediums and are easy to colour with permanent markers or alcohol inks

I matted and layered it onto a couple of pieces of scrap card and added a greeting and voila, another card for my collection!

At this rate I may see the light of day from my scrap box-or even the bottom of the box (doubtful to be honest)!

Kiwi calendar scrap card

So, if you saw my desk Wednesday you would have spotted some of these items on it.

I managed to use some of the bits from the scraps box (including one of the images from a calendar from last year from my kiwi family) to make another card with some legless iridescent card brads and edging the picture with my marker pens to add a little definition.

Ever so slowly I seem to be reducing my scrap box!

It does appear to be bottomless sometimes though!

Scraps and sewing

Just a quick update as not sure I posted this card yet.  AGES ago I stitched some die cut hearts and I came across one I had left over in the bottom of my scrap box.

So I decided to mat it on some precut die cuts (that I bought AGES ago from the local scrap store which were probably left over from the card or packaging industry, it tends to cost about a fiver for a carrier bag full of scraps) and I edged the blue card with some gold embossing powder and then added some flocked paper to a card blank.

A few more items from the scrap box used up-go me!!

Order and structure....most odd for me

Well get me!  I made another card from scraps!!

These scraps have been in my box for ages but I couldn't think of a good way to use them up.  Then suddenly inspiration struck and I thought why not cut them into squares.  I don't tend to do order very well in my crafting but I quite like this one so may have to think about using this type of style again.

Do you have any 'go to' styles or designs you like in crafting?  I'd love to hear about them.
