WOYWW

Happy WOYWW...again!!!  Seriously, how come Fridays don't come round this quickly?!

So on my desk this week is my new key storage box, on the left is my latest stamp I have carved (more of that in a few days when i have played with it properly), happy and very dirty fingers and my latest resin creations.

I made these resin letters using a chocolate mold.  Once set I painted them with black acrylic (you can see I don't often use paintbrushes by the state of my fingers!!) and dried it hard with a heat gun so that the paint bubbled and created a bit of texture.  I then added some gilding wax to highlight areas and added some satin varnish (applied yet again with my fingers!!).  I have NO idea what to do with these, I am sure inspiration will strike at some point!!

If you'd like to share your desk, or even have a legal snoop at workdesks across the globe, you can pop over to the lovely Julia's blog here

  1. Ooh Kyla, I really like what you've been making recently..both the letters and the key whatsit.... They are fab! How deep are the letters? Could you use them as a couple's initials on an anniversary card or plaque or something?

  2. Me again! The scissors sharpened is that black square thing in front of the little set of drawers. There are two slots in it that you put the points of the scissors through and just do a cutting action and the rollers inside sharpen the blades. It's very simple but clever and it makes them really sharp! It wasn't that expensive but I can't remember where it came from, sorry....

    1. Thanks, will keep an eye out in the hardware shop. The letters are a couple of mil deep but the backing can be about 1cm deep if you fill the choccy mold to the rim.

  4. Ooh, those letters are a good idea - must investigate some moulds. Waiting for the weather (snow at the mount) to pick up and then I can play with my ice resin bought in America in January.
Thanks for visiting me - Happy Easter and Happy WOYWW - Hugs, Neet xx 1

  14. I do love to see black inky fingers! They often match mine! Tee Hee!
Love those letters and what a fabulous idea to use chocolate moulds. That has opened up some little ideas in my head (removing the "kill delivery drivers who wear hats" ideas anyway)!
Just glanced at Janet's message. The fiskars scissor sharpeners are brilliant!!
Liking your key box, and you just reminded me that a friend Ray has a key cutting business! Doh!! Off to ask him if I can have the duff ones!
