Getting my Goth on!

This was the card I was making on Wednesday, I finished it.

The image was one I was passed (printed off) from a friend (I think it was Bex) which I coloured with promarkers and added a gentle glitter glaze on the flame.  The background was an embossing folder with TH distress ink in pumice stone gently brushed over the raised edges.

I then added some gems on the skulls eyes (well, why not!)

A mini book make

 Hello, just a quick update as I realised I hadn't shared a recent make.

I made this mini book for a friend a couple of weeks ago (waves at Julia!) and used mount board for the covers stained with distress inks and some clear crackle paste.

 I made concertina pages which I decorated with distress inks and various images and quotes.

 Just a small, simple thing but great fun to make

Christmas cards

So after saying I don't usually make quick cards here are some more!!  I must admit I tend to batch make Christmas cards as it just makes life a little easier.

These were made from a topper pack I bought at the NEC, it was a selection pack which you could only see the top and bottom layers in the pack so it was a bit of a gamble-but for £1 it was worth it as they are really good quality.

 I used a blank square card and a micron pen to add some detail around the edges of the card.  Then I added some colour around the edges with TH Distress Inks and highlighted the card with some stickles.

I kept this card much more simple as the toppers were a bit more 'fussy' but I still added some colour around the edges and used the micron pen again to add a border.

I managed to make about six cards in under an hour, not enough but a good start to my Christmas cards (I did make some back at the start of the year after I was inspired by Hettiecraft...but I stashed them somewhere safe and the inevitable happened and  I have NO idea where I put them!!).

Still avoiding making Christmas presents (mainly as I have NO idea what to make-last year I made handbags and fabric book covers so am at a loss for this year) so I may resort to vouchers and having to shop for presents!  If you have any ideas please let me know!!

A quick and easy card

Just a quick update on my latest card.

The background is actually tissue paper (covered in, I presume fake advertising) that I bought for £1 at the scrap store for about 1" thick of A4 sheets-bargain!

I then stamped a greeting (masking the flowers off the stamp as I didn't think it suited the card) and inked the greeting with distress ink which I flicked water over to lift off some of the colour.

I then matted and layered it on black card.

A nice quick and easy card.

Getting lost

 I decided it was time to get inky again and get some stamps out.

The map, hand and compass are stamped on watercolour card so they have a nice feel to them.  I then used distress inks and flicked water over which I blotted off to remove some of the ink.

I added sepia glossy accents to the compass and added a computer generated saying before adding a squiggly frame around the card.

I love the idea of getting lost...but so rarely have the time these days.  Perhaps I should make time, after all back in January my word of the year was "Balance"?

She sells sea shells

Hello peeps....I hope you have been having a lovely weekend so far?  

I must admit I have decided to stay in this weekend as the weather has been odd to say the least!  It's lovely and hot but we have had lightening storms for the last 3 nights and the last one started at midnight and was still going on at 2pm this afternoon!!!  14 hours later!!  They have given out another with hail and wind as well as the lightening to hit in a few hours!!  This time I will have my camera handy!

The positive side is that between the storms we have been having some lovely warm weather.  Shame that I sit in an office with no external windows near me but at least all the washing has been drying quickly!!

In honour of the lovely weather I thought I would do a beach inspired card.

I stenciled wild honey DI through sequin waste, added the sea shell stamp (a freebie from the cover of a magazine a while ago) and masked the shell a few times and added them to some angelina fibres that I ironed on.  I attached the whole thing with a couple of brads and mounted it on some blue patterned paper which I also added some machine stitching to.

A summery card, just wish I lived near the beach!

365 Challenge

 Hello peeps, I hope you are well and not too wet! 
Just a quick thankyou to the lovely WOYWW for their kind words regarding my annual roundup-it really does make a difference.

Onwards and upwards they say, so with that in mind after completing my 2nd year of Kate Cranes 365 Challenge I have decided to continue and do a 3rd year!!

So here are the pages for January all ready.  The month letters are cut from my cereal boxes and painted with pearl paint and then some distress glitter over the top for a vintage look.

I sprayed the background pages with my ever trusty Dylusion inks and added some darker blue DI through some stencils to add depth (including my new TH cracked glass stencil-thanks for my DH for the gift).  Then I added some pearl paint using the paint lid as a circular stamp and then added some die cut snowflakes and scribbled with some distress stickles to add a little bling

I added some stamped snowmen on scrap card and coloured them with posca pens. All ready to now add my daily journalings (is that actually a word?).

A turkey of a card!

Howdy folks, just a quick update as its becoming mighty chilly here so I need to find my fluffy socks and get a hot chilli chocolate on the go!

I made a couple of these cards for thanksgiving for a couple friends of mine over in the states.

 

I cut the dies from some scrap white card and coloured them in with pro markers (to be honest I couldn't work out which part should be cut out of which colour card so thought this way was WAY easier).

I die cut a fence which I distressed with DI and mounted it all on a gingham background, adding some highlights on the turkey with a white gel pen.

Nice and simple.

A regal card

Hello, I hope you are all well....its certainly getting colder here in the UK (they even had snow 'up north') and I have had to give in and put the heating on (best start counting my pennies now!!) AND get out the fluffy socks and thermals (its an attractive look, I know!).

I thought I would blog the latest card I made.

I darkened the edges of the patterned paper with brush corduroy DI and added some turquoise foil for a little 'bling'.  I did the same on the grungeboard numbers and added some roses, a wired ribbon bow and a crystal pin to finish it off.

I have not been making many cards recently and it was really nice to have a focus.
