Wedding Card

I waited to post this photo.  As well as the Royal Wedding last weekend, it was the wedding of a good school friend of mine, Kev to Clare (sadly I couldn't make the wedding).

I wanted to make a personalised card and since they are into comic-con and music I thought the backing paper was quite arty and reminded me of vinyl records.

I die cut the birds from cardboard and hand coloured them with promarkers.
The letters are also die cut and have a thick gold enamel covering and I added a heart brad as a finishing touch.

Hopefully the happy couple have opened all their cards by now, if not-SURPRISE!!

Getting my Goth on!

This was the card I was making on Wednesday, I finished it.

The image was one I was passed (printed off) from a friend (I think it was Bex) which I coloured with promarkers and added a gentle glitter glaze on the flame.  The background was an embossing folder with TH distress ink in pumice stone gently brushed over the raised edges.

I then added some gems on the skulls eyes (well, why not!)

Gothtastic!

Kimono scrap card

I am trying to use up my stash and scraps so came across some old peel offs I had.

To use them up I decided to put the kimono peel off onto some iridescent paper and used promarkers to colour the tree trunk and cherry blossoms.

I used a punch to add the bamboo on the right hand side of the card and added the whole piece to a card blank.

All from the scrap box, so at least I have made a start (not that you would know that to look at the scrap box!!)

Burn your bridges

Hi, just a quick update to show you one of my latest cards

The stamped image is coloured with promarkers and cut out and the saying is printed out using the typewriter font (free).
I have layered it onto some paper from my offcut stash box (which is not looking too bad at the moment).

A quick card that sums up how I think a lot of us feel at some time or another!!

Oh I do like to be beside the seaside

Oh I do like to be beside the sea.....

Hello peeps....I am back from a weeks holiday in Mallorca.  We had some rain, but I didn't mind as it was WARM (lovely and warm.......hmmmm....came back home to a frost on the first night...brrr...that was a wake up call!) and I managed to swim in the lovely warm, clear blue sea every day (and I managed to do a little painting whilst sat on the beach so in all it was a great weeks break).

I was so pleased to see my craft room when I came home.  Though I had a little kit I took with me, its really not the same as squirrelling myself in my room and crafting my little socks off!

Today I have a card to share with you, its using some pieces from my scrap book and a hand coloured image.

I also used a page from a Japanese book, some lilac netting and a few lilac crystals for a little 'bling'.  I think for a fairy she is pretty hot.

Right, I have yet more washing to do (and more sand to try and get out of crevises!).

Wild Swimming and some pro markers

Hello Peeps, hope you have all had a fabulous weekend?

Now, the title may confuse you a little, but it does sum up my weekend!

Down here in the south west of the UK we were lucky enough to have a dry Saturday, so after a day out I headed off to the coast.  Even though I have rheumatoid arthritis and sometimes I find it difficult to get around, I love wild swimming!  So Saturday just before sunset saw me swimming along the coast....in my new shorty wet suit and surf booties...I was as warm as toast, unlike my poor hubby who does not have a wet suit and managed only a few minutes before the British ocean got the better of him!

The sea was calm, the sunset spectacular and the feeling of looking back to the coast is amazing, I didn't swim far (need to build up my strength), but I do love it.

Anyway, back on the crafting front, as its the 1st day of Autumn this weekend, thoughts are starting to turn to Halloween and I decided that my favourite colour combo this time of year is purple and orange...so had a go at colouring in an image with pro markers.

The orange background paper is slightly embossed so its got some nice texture going on as well.

Off to watch some more of the paralympics....I have been watching it every day, its inspiring, and if you are in the UK then I recommend the after hours show The Last Leg which sums up the days events, its brilliant!

A couple of cards

Not much crafting this weekend as my brother is home from Ecuador for a few days before he heads back for another 12 months away (he works here: http://gviphoenix.blogspot.com/) I miss him terribly but its such a worthwhile cause.  I did manage to get some colouring done (promarkers and stamped images are a great thing to chuck in a bag and do some impromptu crafting!)

I love this little sock monkey stamp-so sweet. I matted and layered it, mounted it on a card and added a sentiment with some distressing around the edge.

This card I made a couple if weeks ago for a friend who is also a Terry Pratchett fan (as am I).  The blind rat stamp is from the Discworld shop in Dorset) and I used some TH papers which I distressed, inked through some sequin waste and added some ink splatters.

A stamped spider in the bottom left, four black card candy's and some raffia finished off the card.

Happy Crafting and good luck bro!

Playing with Promarkers

So, I have been spending some time playing with promarkers. After watching members of the crafting coven colour so expertly (Trace and Becks take a bow-you know you are both colouring masters) I think I am finally starting to get some results that I am pleased with.

To this coloured image I distressed the edges, tearing and distressing some glazed and glittered paper across the card adding a little raffia for texture and some mini brads. I love layers and texture.
I think I need to practise more, but i am seeing an improvement...its just like being a kid again and colouring in!
After a crappy day at work (and today was VERY crappy) there is nothing better then a bit of crafting to ease the days stresses away, so I'm off to craft!

Ooh look what the postie brought me

One of the Crafting Coven, the lovely Becky, posted me this fab gift! A wonderful Tim Holtz paper and a couple of great quality stamps! what a lovely surprise.

I couldn't wait to experiment.
Becky bought me this stamp as my cousin is a tattoo artists and specialises in Japanese tattoo's, so the koi ties in nicely. I coloured in the image with pro markers, distressed the edge with my ever useful distress inks, matted and layered on a couple of pieces of card and added a ribbon and message.

I coloured in with promarkers and added a bit of glitter on the wings with my sakura pens. Distressed the edge of the design and mat and layered it. I punched ferns from green vellum that I stamped with bits of bown ink to add depth, layering up some angelina fibres that I ironed into a sheet and separated into smaller pieces by tearing it, adding a fabric brad for a bit of dimension.

Finally adding some gems for that little bit of sparkle.

I am looking forward to experimenting with these.

ooh, its like being a kid again

So, I have been practising my colouring in with my pro-markers and some stamped images, I must admit, not my usual style but I am really enjoying getting the pens out and having a go.
And its great if you are away for a day/weekend you can take some stamped images and a few pens and you can craft on the go!
