WOYWW

Oh my, I cannot believe it's Wednesday again!!
So what am I blethering on about?  Well, every Wednesday about 100 of us (I know it's amazing and has been going on for 5 years!!) all across the globe show what is on our workdesks....simples!

The queen of the desks is Julia and all the deets can be found here.

So on my desk this week is my 365 journal. I am trying to get ahead of the game and at least start my August pages!  The paler sheet is being cut out for the daily writing I thought I would use a circular die to represent a beach ball.
Also on the right side of the desk is a sheet of music and a retro radio that I cut out of a magazine, I thought it would go with the music sheet but I am not sure of the layout yet,

My "Man Bites Dog" cards this week are 'Fake Lawyer Strikes Angry Blonde'!  Not cheerful but cannot wait to see the local headlines!!

So if you fancy a legal snoop at desks around the globe then feel free to join us and pop over to Julia's desk...we are a friendly bunch!!

Taxi!

Hello peeps, just a quick update.
As you know, us crafters are a canny lot and upcycling is quite often our "thing"....well this card is a great example of that!

The NYC yellow cab background is actually a wallpaper border I got for free off an offcut from a store. I over stamped it with an alphabet stamp in yellow ink to bring it all together.  I then stamped the Birthday greeting on left over card and stamped some of the yellow letters over this, which I then mounted.

A quick and easy card with minimal cost....my idea of crafting!

She sells sea shells

Hello peeps....I hope you have been having a lovely weekend so far?
I must admit I have decided to stay in this weekend as the weather has been odd to say the least!  It's lovely and hot but we have had lightening storms for the last 3 nights and the last one started at midnight and was still going on at 2pm this afternoon!!!  14 hours later!!  They have given out another with hail and wind as well as the lightening to hit in a few hours!!  This time I will have my camera handy!

The positive side is that between the storms we have been having some lovely warm weather.  Shame that I sit in an office with no external windows near me but at least all the washing has been drying quickly!!

In honour of the lovely weather I thought I would do a beach inspired card.

I stenciled wild honey DI through sequin waste, added the sea shell stamp (a freebie from the cover of a magazine a while ago) and masked the shell a few times and added them to some angelina fibres that I ironed on.  I attached the whole thing with a couple of brads and mounted it on some blue patterned paper which I also added some machine stitching to.

A summery card, just wish I lived near the beach!

I hope you have been able to enjoy the nice weather and happy crafting

WOYWW

Hurrah, I am hoping that normal service has been resumed because, get me...I have been able to craft AND blog!!  I know, pride comes before a fall and all that, so I doubt this will last long, but hey...I may as well brag whilst I have the chance!

So, on my desk this week are a couple of cards I am making, top left is my kitchen roll that I use for clean up and is dyed BRIGHT orange because I have just sprayed my August 365 journal background pages. I tend to keep these inked kitchen roll sheets as they make lovely backgrounds in their own right.

Also on my desk is the tape gun I won at the WOYWW crop (thanks to whoever donated/bought that....I have been using it TONS!) and just underneath it is my Sheena Gouglas fake leather experiment that didn't turn out well as I didn't have any spray and shine so used spray varnish!  I ended up clear embossing over the top and I plan on die cutting it so it won't be wasted (us crafters HATE waste....I think we are really the best green crafters as we tend to upcycle and reuse so many items in our pursuit of crafting).

My "Man Bites Dog" cards spell out 'Crazy Mayor sues 340lb cop!!'....I am not sure I would call our mayor of Bristol crazy...but lets see what this weeks headines  bring and I will pass judgement then!

These are a couple of the cards that I managed to make today.  I used TH smudged stamping technique on the tags with some stickles glitter on the Vegas and some glossy accents on the cherries.  I embossed some white card with the BINGO embossing folder and ran some red and black ink over the surface.  I added some distressed mini playing cards to one and a casino token on the other.

So, if you fancy a legal snoop at desks across the globe then pop over to the lovely Julia's blog (link over on the right).

'Sew' few cards

It suddenly dawned on me that I have not made any cards recently (picture the scene, I go to my card drawer and its almost bare....then I have the realisation that I may need to buy one!!!  Now, I don't know about you, but when I stand in somewhere like WH Smiths and find a nice card then find out it is £4.99.....nearly a fiver!!!  I look at it and realise I can make it SO much cheaper and nicer....so I put it back (usually with a vocalised hurrumph) and trudge home hell bent on not letting my card stash get so low again!).

I decided to "theme" my cards either by colour or subject.  I am hoping that I can make a few cards with the same colour or subject and they will all look different but it means that I will be able to use the same tools, papers etc rather than rummaging through a ton of stash and only using a small amount and then having to spend longer putting it all away than I took to make the card!  So I set myself the challenge of "Sewing".

This card is made using some homemade "cloth paper" that I had in my snippets box for AGES and the TH dress form die (I really do love this die, its so deep I can cut leather, cork etc, simply marvellous).

Its a nice clean card.  Unlike the next one when I decided to throw everything at it and see what happens!

This one is much more vintage in feeling.  The small fabric padded patch is actually a small scrap of fabric from my friends scrap bin!!  It was too cute to throw away so I edged it on to some quilt batting and zig zagged about it.  I added a homemade thread holder and stuck on a button and voila ...another card!

Now I need to face the music and make some male themed cards!!  Oh dear, I fear that will not be as easy!

Shopping in style

A few weeks ago (possibly more) I had this bag (uncoloured) on one of my WOYWW posts.

I finally finished it!  Ta da!

It wasn't difficult.  I bought this large heavy canvas shopping bag with the architect centre design in black outline on the front for only £1.50 in our local independent market.  I thought I would brighten it up a bit.  I considered stitching, but remembered I had some fabric pastels that I hadn't used much since they were given to me as a gift a couple of years ago, so thought this would be the perfect opportunity.

Sometimes, when you are having a bad day I find that whatever I try to make looks awful...its like my bad mood transfers into the finished article, not good.  So, having a small area to colour in bright fabric pastels seemed like a fool proof way of crafting on the odd occasion when the mojo takes a break!

I set it with an iron and now have a natty and stylish shopping bag.  All ready for my next outing.

June 365 challenge

Hi peeps, been absent for a while as I haven't had much time to craft recently.  But I am now making a conscious effort to craft at least once a week!  Now I just need to find time to blog too!!

I forgot to post my June 365 journal!  So here it is:

Nice and sunny with a plane to represent when we flew off to Malta for our holidays!  As usual its coloured with Dylusion sprays as I love their bright colours and that they are still reactive to water so I can spritz and flick to my hearts content.

I am up to date with writing the daily bits for July but I am still to decorate the pages but hopefully I will get that finished before the end of the month this time!!

Happy crafting
