WOYWW

Hello peeps, its another What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday where we share our desks.  Well, I loved having a mid week day off last week so I took another this week so I could craft for a bit again!

On my desk is my 365 journal and I thought I would get an early start on the May month page.  I found a few years back that adding a layer of gesso helps the inks flow across the page and not bleed through as much so I tend to use this as a base layer on my pages now.

My "Man Bites Dog" cards this week are 'Judge Stabs Teen Actor' - not great but that was how the cards came out randomly drawn!!

Moving on - you may have seen this on my IG page etc but at the weekend we had our regular Bristol Urban Sketchers meet up (apart from one last summer they have had to be virtual for the past 13 months where we chat on live video call whilst sketching-the positive is that we can sketch ANYWHERE in the world!).

This time we sketched in Jerusalem.  There were some amazing view in the old city etc, but I also found this fascinating structure where it appears to be a large circular structure held aloft with wires!

So, whats on your workdesk this wednesday?

Happy What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday, well I have a cheeky day off today so my desk is somewhat different, this morning it is the kitchen.  We are just on the start of the new preserving season (I have already made a large batch of Wild Garlic salt and a jar of dried Wild Garlic powder in the past few days so the new preserving year is well under way!) and this is going to be Dandelion Honey!  It's dandelions flowers, water, lemon and sugar, that's it.  I love the taste of it and last year I did NOT make enough so this year I am hoping to make a few more jars!

The allotment site has loads of dandelions and as its fenced there are very few dogs or people so less chance of them being polluted.  Its nice an easy to make and I use it instead of agave which is my usual "go to" liquid sweetner but this is a LOT cheaper (hence I need to make a lot more this year as I ran out by the Autumn last year!!)

Forgot to bring my Man Bites Dog cards down, sorry will try to remember next week, I will also try to do another post as I have been doing some more sketches recently, yesterday I sketched on the allotment and we have another Bristol Urban sketchers virtual event at the weekend so I will try and post my sketches.

So, are you sharing your desk (or workspace) with us? All the details are the the lovely Julia's Queen of desks blog here

Hello peeps, sorry wasn't able to post or visit last week as been chokka with pay the bills job. But, I was determined to take part this week so i took this last night (in the now lighter evenings in the UK- woo hoo, happy days).  I made my April page for the 365 journal challenge and my 'Man Bites Dog' cards this week are 'tourist tricks killer, again!!'  It's the 'again' that makes me wonder!!

So the desk has some stuff on it, but i thought i would share how it was at the weekend- well I think lockdown 3 in the UK may have gotten to me finally as I decided to clean my craft room!!! I know!! Not just a quick dust but taking stuff off shelves and proper damp dusting!!! Well, once every few years I suppose isn't too bad! This was the during shot

But this was the after and I must admit it does look and smell better!!!

Then on my dailywalk i spotted this in a bus shelter

It was lovely finding it, mainly as I also abandon art so it was lovely to see someone else does it also.

So, what's on your workdesk Wednesday?

Happy hump day where we share What's on your workdesk Wednesday! Well, this was late last  night, sadly my workdesk is filled with pay the bills jobs so only a small space, but still space for me to finally finish my sketchbook! Yes the final page which means i get to start a new sketchbook!! Hurrah!

In the final double page spread i sketched some architectural sketches, thought they would be good practice for my urban sketchers meet ups.

Only a quick update as super busy with pay the bills job, but hope to stop by some desks later in the week.

Happy crafting

Happy hump day so that means sharing our desks with the lovely Julia queen of desks for What's on your workdesk Wednesday.

To be honest this was taken last night as i had a day off work so could spend some decent time in the room actually crafting and making some cards

My 'man bites dog' cards makes you wonder what else the 'orange one' has been up to?!

I thought I would post a photo from the weekend too. For the past year the Bristol Urban sketchers group that i have been a member of for a few years have been doing virtual zoom meetups where we have a pre arranged location and you can sketch and chat on video for a couple of hours. It's lovely seeing places from all over the world (this one was Norwich but the next is Singapore), sketching and just the general 'chat', boy i have missed general chatting!

So, what's on your workdesk this Wednesday?

Happy hump day so that means sharing our desks with the Queen of desks Julia for What's on your workdesk Wednesday.

Late entry for me as I have a day off work so got sidetracked! First apologies as i havent been able to do all my return visit to you from last week, i will try better this week.

So, on my desk is my 365 journal and i am gessoing the pages ready for March and April as i find the paper takes the spray inks better with a gesso base.

On a positive I did manage some me time at the weekend and joined my regular group the Bristol urban sketchers. For the past year we have been doing virtual meet ups. We agree a destination (this time was Norway) and we sketch whilst chatting for a couple hrs on zoom then share our pics. Its been a godsend as its been my only group craft/art that i have done.

This is with inktense pencils for the northern lights and below was a really interesting neon looking bridge so i experimented and painted the page with black acrylic and used posca pens.

WOYWW with a difference

This weeks What's  on your workdesk Wednesday is different. Why? Well, most will know that at the weekend we lost the amazing crafter, enabler (and wifelet to the amazing Doug) Shaz Silverwolf.

Shaz was a crafting legend and long time fellow crafter and when we met and realised a shared passion for alternative music too it was brilliant. There isnt much i can add that others havent already said. But, in honour i decided to get a certain hand carved stamp out to use. Years ago at a WOYWW crop i had this image on a 'misfortune cookie' wrapper. Doug and shaz took one look at it, smiled and Doug said, you could carve that for a stamp!

And they were right! 'Cos i went home from the crop and did exactly that! I love the image and have used it several times, so it seemed fitting to get it out again.

My 'Man bites dog' this week - Dog tricks Priest!!

Rest in peace Shaz

Hump day so that means sharing our desks with the lovely Julia Queen of desks at her blog here

Only a short update as been hectic, but if you read my update last week you will understand my pleasure and excitement as on 31st Jan i completed my 20th Christmas card!!! Hurrah, they can be put away until I panic in November!!

This means i can now finally try to find some time to craft before the allotment takes over my spare time again!!

So, what's on your workdesk Wednesday?

Happy hump day so that means sharing our desks for What's on your workdesk Wednesday. Been absent for a while as the pay the bills job has been hectic so this is only a quick update.

On my desk last night was some upcycled Christmas cards. Each year I try to make about 20 Christmas cards by the end of January. That way come November when panic sets in and I look in my Christmas paper/stamp box I find about 20 cards already made!! Panic over!! I have been doing this for a few years now and it seems to work for me so I plan on continuing.

Happy crafting and stay safe

Morning all and the first What's on Your Workdesk of 2021.  On my desk this week (albeit on Monday as I had a cheeky day off) is my new 365 Challenge journal.  I have been doing Kate Cranes original challenge for about 6 years or so and can usually fit 3 years worth in one A4 book.  This year its a new book - ooh clean and not covered with sticky stuff!! That will NOT last long before it is covered with glue, spilt paint and glitter!!

My "Man Bites Dog" cards this week are "Brave Hero Drops Secret Thousands" - well I am thinking of people like the actor Michael Sheen who has been instrumental in supporting the Big Issue and Homeless World Cup in their assistance to homelessness in the UK and also people like Marcus Rashford the footballer and amazing game changer for hunger and free school meals (and making our Government change their minds!). There have been some amazing acts of compassion in the past year.

One other update is that once again hubby and I did our Gratitude Jar.  Every year we do this, its an old coffee pot covered in gaffa tape with a bulldog clip inside holding some cut up paper (you know, those pattern paper sheets we all have in packs that we know we wont use so I cut them into large stamp sizes) and a biro.  Then, when something we are grateful for happens we make a note of the date and what it was.  It can be something simple like a walk and hearing the birds sing or maybe a meal out etc.

Then at the start of the new year we sit down and randomly pick them out of the pot and read them out.  Little snippits of gratitude throughout the year.  Either way we have done this for a few years now and I was determined to continue it though out 202 as I felt we needed to be reminded of some of the nice things that happened.

I think we were both surprised as to how many there were in the jar at the end of year.  Now I admit there is NOT as many as previous years, but considering the year we have all had I was pleasantly surprised.

We have started 2021 Jar already and plan to continue.

Happy New year one and all
