Hello peeps, its another What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday where we share our desks. Well, I loved having a mid week day off last week so I took another this week so I could craft for a bit again!
On my desk is my 365 journal and I thought I would get an early start on the May month page. I found a few years back that adding a layer of gesso helps the inks flow across the page and not bleed through as much so I tend to use this as a base layer on my pages now.
Moving on - you may have seen this on my IG page etc but at the weekend we had our regular Bristol Urban Sketchers meet up (apart from one last summer they have had to be virtual for the past 13 months where we chat on live video call whilst sketching-the positive is that we can sketch ANYWHERE in the world!).
Love your sketch! Eek to the MBD cards. Not nice. But yeah, take 'em as they come. Funnily enough I have an open journal with gesso on it on my desk as well.
ReplyDeleteSidetracked momentarily by a new project but determined to visit ALL today! :D

I needed some gesso this week (to smooth out a modroc face I’ve made) but didn’t want to fork out for something I’ll only use once, so I went online and found a recipe using talc, PVA, white acrylic and water. It worked really well, I was impressed with myself, lol!! Love the Jerusalem sketch, I was wondering what the words were for!

What a cool looking place!? Thanks for the wild garlic info. I found a recipe for pickling the ransoms but sadly after we'd had to pull a load out and got rid... Stay safe and keep smiling, Lisa-Jane #5
ReplyDeleteThat looks a very interesting structure, I wonder what it is. Happy WOYWW and have a great week Angela #3
ReplyDeleteI never use IG but love your sketch! whilst I'm sure you're looking forward to getting back to meeting up your sketch group, the places you've "visited" have been fabulous! HappyWOYWW Helen #4
ReplyDeleteLove your Man Bites Dog very interesting. Loving your sketch too. You take care and have a very happy creative woyww, Angela x12x
ReplyDeleteI love your Jerusalem sketch, Kyla, I am not sure of the scale of the circular structure, but am wondering (if it is large enough to cover quite a wide area) whether it is an eruv - an artificially created boundary enclosing an area where Orthodox Jews are free to travel on the Sabbath. Just a thought. However, it may be smaller and be some sort of sculpture - not sure from your drawing or what you said about it, just how large it is. Anyway, it's a very interesting drawing.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your return visit to my blog last week. Sorry to hear your hubby and his dad are both migraine sufferers - it can definitely run in families - my dad used to get them really badly.
Happy WOYWW,

What a great sketch Kyla. At least sketching any place in the world is a way of making up for having to do it virtually. Stay safe and happy WOYWW. Sarah #2
