WOYWW and Free pens

Wednesday again but this week I don't have my desk as I was away at Sidmouth Folk Festival for a few days so my desk is just full of my dumped sketching items and pebbles I picked up to decorate as part of the Art Abandonment project that I recently joined.

What I do have is some new stash!  This time it is the best sort of stash....FREE!
I know, nada, zilch, nowt, zero!  The lovely guys and gals at Uni Ball (thanks Uni Ball) that I met at the Upfest street art festival said as a left handed sketcher using a competitors pen they would send me some to try....and they did!  To be honest I thought they were just being nice, but look at all these goodies.

The jetstream pens on the left are suitable for left and right handers and the pens on the right are a collection of various nib thickness and waterproof.

The nibs range from 0.05 - 0.8 and I plan on taking them out on my next sketching session and giving them a good road test which I will report back on.

A different take on a wedding card

Spring Equinox  tomorrow and snow forecast!!

Looking back over my blog posts I noticed I haven't posted the card I made for my brother's wedding.  He and Zoe were married in Ecuador a few weeks ago (where they live).

I used some TH papers and made a patchwork out of them, toning them down with a wash of gesso.  I then added an ATC I made (with the TH die I won when I was lucky enough to go to the TH paperarsty event a couple of years ago) and added a moth paperartsy die and stamp, some torn corrugated cardboard and a pen nib for the moths body

I added the word 'journey' to represent the journey they are starting with their new life.
I wish them every happiness in their new life together

Deep breath....I used a pen nib

Now, I am sure I am not alone....you see some fab stash, finally you give in and buy it, you get home, stroke the stash, covet the stash....anything but use the stash!

Now, a few weeks ago I made this tag with the idea of using a pen nib as the body, but I only had 3 left in my stash!  After days of agonising I decided to buy some more before I used it, only to find the shop I bought them from no longer sells them!  Panic started to set in....whilst I love TH nibs (with the cute words on) they are far too expensive for everyday use.....what was I to do?

Then I had a brainwave (no idea why it took so long!)....try on line auction sites!  Hey presto, a few days later I was the proud owner of over 100 pen nibs for only a few quid!

So this meant I can now use my nibs with no fear of running out any time soon!

I mounted the tag on some TH paper which I distressed with some wild honey (my favourite colour at the moment) and stamped the TH splatter stamp in wild honey to tie it all together.

One nib down, 99 odd to go!
