WOYWW

Yet again we are at hump day or as it's known round here "WOYWW".

Once again I have not been making but I have been to the scrap store and charity shops!!  This time I have some offcuts of fabric (all the blues) and some lovely black leather (3 quite large pieces and they rarely get black in the store) all for £5 and in the charity shop 3 bags of tapestry wool for just under £6 (which is the next craft I would like to try).

At the back of my desk between the glue and the water spray is a bottle of pure acetone (for removing gel nails) from Poundland.  I thought I would try some image transfers but they were not very successful (I used magazine images from a variety of sources) and thought I burnished them well, but not one of them worked!!  Not sure what I did wrong, or what I can do with the bottle of acetone now!

My "Man Bites Dog" cards this week were picked by my hubby....'Lady Killer Dumps Last Dead Tourist'.....that's a bit grim was his response!

So, why not show us your desk and join us for a legal snoop (not too many clean desks this week please, it freaks me out!!!).

Happy crafting

Kyla

  2. I have tried image transfer using a number of mediums and I can never get it right. It might have something to do with the type of printing ink used by the magazine. someone on Woyww will definitely have an answer on what you can do with the acetone. Great finds at the charity store.

  3. My desk IS clean and tidy this week (as always atm!) Kyla, but to spare you, I have not posted a photo of it! Love all the new stash. We all like a bit of new stash, don't we. Thanks for your lovely comment - We know Eggbuckland well, and used to be very friendly with the vicar and his wife there (now retired). Also Tamerton Foliot. We lived in Plymouth for 15 years overlooking the Dockyard (not posh lol!) and I grew up on the moors. We are now by the sea at Torquay. We love Devon!

Going in hospital first thing Fri a.m. for my operation. Lots to sort out before then.

    Happy WOYWW,

  4. Hi Kyla, there is stuff all over mine this week, so you are safe, as is my sanity. tidy gives me the creeps, lol. Another messy crafter for the crop this year too, even though we can only stay a couple of hours. I can remember Marg, Silvercrafter, posting a while ago about Sainsburys own brand nail varnish remover being excellent for image transfer, a recommendation from Barbara Grey of Clarity, if that helps.Have a great week, Hugs, Shaz #18 xx

  7. Hope you have fun with all that new stuff. Image transfer is easy if you have the right type of magazine or a laser print and I have only ever done it with a Gel Medium though I know people also use Citra Solv. There are tutorials online for these techniques. Have a great woyww, Angela x 60

  8. Don't ask me about acetone....might be able to use it as a repeller for alcohol inks, but otherwise....I dunno!! I love the checked fabric there, and I know you're chuffed about the leather..but what are your plans...are you buying thick needles and planning a leather bag?

  9. Pure acetone sounds a bit dangerous to me, do take care. I've promised myself not to visit charity shops or the scrap store for quite some time - I REALLY need to use the stuff already here LOL. Have a great week, Chris # 21
