Sorry that I missed last week's WOYWW and the return visits but I was away for my birthday.  Did I mention that it was my birthday last week?  No?  Are you sure :-)

Full details for my visit to London is in the previous post (lots of street art and a whores graveyard!).

This week all that is on my desk is some fabric.  Not just any old fabric, no sir.  This is some fabulous African fabric.  Bricklane has some great fabric shops, now mainly Indian or African but some beautiful fabrics.  These 2 pieces of cotton are 2 yards each and I bought them as offcuts from a lady in Spittafields market who makes bags from them.  I mentioned the bags I had been making recently and how I love bright linings rather than dark as it makes it easier to see things inside and she mentioned she had some large offcuts she was selling for only £4 each!!!  So I bought these two (I was proud I only bought two..I nearly came away with all 6 pieces)!

I was lucky with all my birthday wishes, cards and gifts but these 2 cards really stood out.  The hand coloured one is from Gashead Zoe (just check out her colouring....always takes my breath away) and the other is from my brother and sister in law (crafting goodies are NOT clutter brother dear!!).

My "Man Bites Dog" cards this week are 'Actor Mourns Heiress Lover'.......not sure how I feel about this one, a bit of a downer so moving along......

So, why not join us for a legal snoop at desks across the globe?  Some clean, some full of art others on the floor and some just SO inspirational.  Join us at Julia's blog (link on the right)

Happy crafting

  1. Well, if you lose anything in a bag lined with fabric like that, there is no hope for you... they are gorgeous! Love the cards, clutter indeed, he better not come round here... there's more! Helen #6

  2. Ha I love how you bring those cards out each week and what comes from them, nearly a book title isn't it. Beautiful material and that card from Zoe is just stunning, belated birthday greetings.

    Happy WOYWW

  4. Hi Kyla, glad you had such a lovely birthday. I am totally with you on Zoe's colouring, I wish I had a fraction of her patience and talent. I have to go check out the whores graveyard- that's really intrigued me. Have a great week, Hugs, Shaz #21 xx

  5. A belated Happy Birthday. Sounds like you had a real great time. Love the fabric.

  6. Aw you've made my day, so glad you like my card, you guys are making me blush with the compliments, I just do my colouring thing. That fabric is stunning. I'm off to have my hair cut & coloured in a wonderful vibrant shade of red (yes the only red I do is on my head!!) it's too dark so having it cleansed before so it's lighter! So no desk, though may post hair pics later!! Take care Zo xx

  7. Gorgeous fabric and happy belated birthday!! Now if I'd known you were in London..... Happy WOYWW Cindy #36

  8. Happy WOYWW. Fabulous fabric. What a great source of designs - will have to go to the markets when we are next in London. I used to live in the East End and miss the colours/smells/music of so many different cultures. Happy Belated Birthday (it was my birthday last Friday). Ali x #43

  9. Wow that is some great bright fabric. Never seen anything like that here in our boring old fabric stores. Those stores also always smell dusty..I wonder why that is. That card from Zo is colored so very perfectly! Happy WOYWW Shel-PaperOctilloStudio #42

  10. Wowsers that fabric looks super! Love it!

  12. Love your tude girl. Nice to meet you here on this global coffee break. Thx for sharing. Pat #67

  13. I love funky ethnic fabrics too! I bought a load of batiks once because I loved the patterns but I still don't know what to do with them as I don't sew. I must look up Brick Lane when in London! Thanks for your visit to my blog! Happy belated birthday and WOYWW! zsuzsa @ InkyDinkyDoodle

  14. Hi Kyla, thanks for the visit. Pleased you had a great birthday. The fabric looks great, look forward to seeing what you make with it.
Have a great week, Angela x
