WOYWW

Its a simple question I have for you.....How come I have an entire computer desk to craft on (yes it is a small computer table from a swedish store....but its still a table) yet I only appear to have a space the size of a postage stamp (and I mean a bog standard stamp, not one of those fancy larger Chrimbo ones you get this time of year!!) to craft on?!?!?!

So, after following Tim Holtz 12 tags of Christmas (which is now finished but you can find all of them, and previous years on his blog, www.timholtz.typepad.com) I have finally managed to start on mine, so here is my first one of twelve.

I dont have much TH products (honest, I dont!!) so had to make it using none of the actual products he used!!  I didn't have a snowflake enbossing folder, any of the dies (I cut the banner from music paper and the pine cones are real!) and I used a left over Christmas message instead of his Noel.

But all in all I was really pleased how it turned out, I like to be inspired by TH (lets be honest its not difficult) but his products can be  a tad on the pricey side here in the UK so I tend to use his ideas as a starting point-a good example is the ribbon, his, whilst lovely is a few quid over here so I used really cheap ribbon from the fabric shop which was only a few pennies a meter-not the same, but I think it works.

If you fancy a legal snoop around some very creative workspaces then please pop over to Julia's blog (link over on the right) for WOYWW (What's on your Workdesk Wednesday).

I have a day off so intend to squirrel myself away in the craft room and get very inky and messy-its better than medicine!!

Happy Crafting

  1. Hi there, just popping in to say Hi. Hope you have a great week and thanks for sharing a snippit of your
creative life with us today. I think that getting inspiration from the twelve tags and doing it your way is so much better than copying his exactly! I'm lucky to have a fair bit of his stuff but still do it my way!

  2. Love this tag! Haven't checked out Timmy's yet, but I know that Neil won a prize and he approves! Love the idea of a day off of work and being able to craft the day away. Have fun! xoxo from lucky #1. Whoo HOO!

  3. I feel the exact same way about my table. It's big enough...I just never have any room on it, lol! Your tag is gorgeous!

  4. Like your take on the TH tags and clever to do them with what you have in your stash.

  5. Nothing wrong with not using the pricey stuff!! if possible I use the cheaper stuff or find an alternative! But it is nice to have the pricey stuff though, which ism probably why I'm so skint at the moment lol
Bit late getting on this week due to various disasters, but belated happy WOYWW

  7. Nicely done on the tag!! I have a very limited supply of TH products and really just discovered him!

One thing I've learned from all this WOYWW hopping is that no matter the size of the desk it's always too small!!

  10. Very nice use of products you have. I think that was what Tim was wanting us to do was use his tags for inspiration more than anything. My friend is telling me he does it to sell products which is also true but...I am lucky to have bought a lot of his stuff but I still took off on my own. Have a great week and Happy Holidays! 11. *Sings* And I did it my waaayyyyyyyy!
(Apologies to any Sinatra fans listening..) I think that's the true meaning of creating, using what you've already got. And why should you conform to one person's range? Do your own thing :)

  12. I love the 'not many products' versions of the tags, I don't go look at Tim's until Christmas hols, then I think I've seen the best of them all before I have a go myself!! Yours is gorgeous. As for the postage stamp space thin....no solution whatsoever, but you aren't alone....any help?!!!

  13. Great Tag! I love that you made it your own (and on a budget to boot!). I have a whole room for scrapping, and not a spare space to sit right now. LOL! Thanks for sharing! -Amanda 29

  14. I know what you mean, you sit down to do a project and then find you don't have any of the stuff they've used, but you've done a splendid job, it's gorgeous! Thanks for sharing,
