Free art update

 Only just realised that whilst I posted these on my social media sites I had forgotten to update my blog-so here is a catch up.

I love taking part in Free Art Friday and Art Abandonment as well as Bristol Rocks and Sidmouth Smilestones.  Basically make art and leave it for someone to find, easy.

This was a small watercolour I sketched whilst at a hospital appointment recently.  You sit there, often for a couple hours so I tend to sketch as it keeps me off my phone and my mind occupied.  I then usually leave the sketches (unless they are my urban sketches which tend to be in a proper sketchbook) for someone to find, pass on or leave for someone else.

I also tend to have some posca pens and a small clear nail varnish with me in my small travel kit.  These come in really handy if I spot any pebbles/rocks that I can draw on and  leave for others to find.  The nail varnish providing a clear protective lacquer. 

 

I never really know what I am going to draw, it depends on the shape of the stone but I tend to have half a dozen "go to" designs that tend to work on various shapes.

I usually leave contact details of the groups mentioned above (usually via Facebook/groups) and people can register a find online and also post a picture if they then move the stones to a new location and abandon them for another to find.

I think it is a lovely idea and a great way to spread a smile.

Painted pebbles

 Whilst I was at Sidmouth Folk festival I also picked some pebbles up and painted them insitu with Posca pens and coated them with clear nail varnish to protect them.

This lady bird pebble was left on a low ledge in the Childrens field

and at the base of this post on the seafront I left a pebble I painted with a Koi carp

Not very delicate but I painted it whilst sat in the cafe at lunchtime!

Just a couple more pieces I set free (I write the art abandonment FB details on the back of the rocks so if found and they wish to get in touch they can).

After all, it is always nice to find something for free isn't it?

Postive affirmations and pebbles

 On a recent trip to Exeter I came across post-it notes that had been stuck to various billboards.

 "You are ALWAYS good enough"

 and "Be your own hero".  Little positive affirmations randomly across the city.

The weather was nice to we decided to pop on down to Sidmouth for a couple of hours.  I love it down here, the Jurassic coast has the most amazing red stone.

I couldn't resist adding some googly eyes to this rusted little fella

We also popped to Budleigh Salterton.  Some amazing scenery around here and the estuary has a great walk to Otterton watermill, with bird hides and plenty of seats on route!

Whilst we sat on the sea front (with maybe an ice cream!) I couldn't resist painting this little fellow on a pebble and left my blog details on the back.

I wonder if anyone will find him?  I know someone contacted me last year about the ones I left in Sidmouth.

Free Range Art

Hello peeps, if you are in England then I do hope you are having a lovely bank holiday (last one until the dreaded C word I think!!!).

 

I have been lucky enough to spend a few days down in Devon and decided to decorate

some more pebbles on the beach and set them free with instructions on the back how to contact me if you find one.

They were decorated with permanent marker and coloured with inktense pencils so I am not sure how long the colour will last-I hope they cheer up whoever happens to come across one of them!

 

Right, sunny here (woo hoo) so off outside to do some painting (although possibly just sit in a chair and fall asleep in the sun!!).
