WOYWW

Morning all and the first What's on Your Workdesk of 2021.  On my desk this week (albeit on Monday as I had a cheeky day off) is my new 365 Challenge journal.  I have been doing Kate Cranes original challenge for about 6 years or so and can usually fit 3 years worth in one A4 book.  This year its a new book - ooh clean and not covered with sticky stuff!! That will NOT last long before it is covered with glue, spilt paint and glitter!!

My "Man Bites Dog" cards this week are "Brave Hero Drops Secret Thousands" - well I am thinking of people like the actor Michael Sheen who has been instrumental in supporting the Big Issue and Homeless World Cup in their assistance to homelessness in the UK and also people like Marcus Rashford the footballer and amazing game changer for hunger and free school meals (and making our Government change their minds!). There have been some amazing acts of compassion in the past year.

One other update is that once again hubby and I did our Gratitude Jar.  Every year we do this, its an old coffee pot covered in gaffa tape with a bulldog clip inside holding some cut up paper (you know, those pattern paper sheets we all have in packs that we know we wont use so I cut them into large stamp sizes) and a biro.  Then, when something we are grateful for happens we make a note of the date and what it was.  It can be something simple like a walk and hearing the birds sing or maybe a meal out etc.

Then at the start of the new year we sit down and randomly pick them out of the pot and read them out.  Little snippits of gratitude throughout the year.  Either way we have done this for a few years now and I was determined to continue it though out 202 as I felt we needed to be reminded of some of the nice things that happened.

I think we were both surprised as to how many there were in the jar at the end of year.  Now I admit there is NOT as many as previous years, but considering the year we have all had I was pleasantly surprised.

We have started 2021 Jar already and plan to continue.

Happy New year one and all

  2. Well as long as the book never sees snot and tears, I’m alright for the sticky painty stuff! Must be lovely to start a new one, knowing that it will be brim full at some point....And that lovely smell of new pages....aah. Am glad that your gratitude tin revealed some surprises, also a fab way to recall some otherwise everyday moments.

  3. I had to go and take a look at the original challenge because I realised I'd never looked it up. So it's a diary to create and then keep? Fun! I used to use Momento app to do that but I've slipped rather in recent years. That's going to make scrapbooking tough in the year to come. Maybe I should resurrect it this year?

    Happy WOYWW!

  4. What a great idea your gratitude pot is, I remember it from previous years. Just goes to show you can find good things all the time, even in a year like last year! Take care and stay safe. Helen #2

  5. What a fantastic idea! I've done a prayer jar and gone back to see how many were answered but never a gratitude one ~ especially with your spouse ~ that's a really sweet thing to do :) Enjoy your week! Love, Karen#32

  9. I love your gratitude tin - I write down three things I am grateful for each day - there is always something even if it is just small things and it helps to keep things positive. Sorry I'm late. Wishing you a happy belated WOYWW. Take care and stay safe. With love & God Bless, Caro xxx (#10)

  10. I love your idea of the gratitude jar, Kyla. It reminds me of what a fellow cancer sufferer said to me when we were undergoing treatment. She said she always liked to list 5 things at the end of each day that she was thankful for, before she went to sleep, and when she got cancer, she found she was listing 10 instead of 5! I could really identify with that. Sometimes it takes a crisis to shake us out of our complacency and make us realise how blessed we are, and that we should be a lot more grateful!

    Happy belated WOYWW,
