Malta Art abandonment

This was a Free Art Friday and Art Abandonment tag I sketched whilst having a drink in a new local bar (LVB, great new place) in Valletta, Malta recently.

Only had one of my black ink pens with me during the evening and a blank tag but it seemed a perfect opportunity to have a doodle whilst having a drink.

I left it on the table (there is a brief explanation about it on the back of the tag, explaining they can take it, leave it or pass it on or even register a find on the facebook group) for someone to find.

Just in case your interested the drink was a fabulous non alcoholic mocktail that LVB make, a plum and rosemary "lemonade"-delicious.

This was another tag I sketched, in another bar (Gugar, a fabulous vegan/alternative late night bar where they play a great selection of music off the internet, including when we were there a mate from the UK's band!!).

When we went back a couple days later we spotted it had been pegged to the wall along with other art people have sketched whilst there (its that sort of place-LOVE it there).

WOYWW

Hump day already?  That can only mean one thing, "What's on your Workdesk Wednesday" when we all visit the Queen of Desks, the lovely Julia (link over on the right hand side) and bare all!  Well, desk wise that is.

On my desk this week is my next 365 Journal Challenge page trying to be ready for the start of July (July?  I cannot believe it!!).  I have spritzed the pages (the page on the right is an A4 piece of card that I will punch the small squares from to create a small journal entry for each day of the month).  Once my page is dry I will probably stamp some images or doodle over it to add some interest before adding the daily squares-hopefully before the start of the month.

My "Man Bites Dog" cards this month-'Nurse Dumps Intern Lover'-now I really did pull these randomly from the pack (as I do each week) but it's quite fitting since the NHS (a fantastic organisation that does an amazing job without sufficient funding) is 70 years old next week!

Malta urban sketching

Finally getting round to downloading my photos from the holidays.

In order to have an excuse to sit down and rest as often as possible I decided to do some sketching as often as I could!

This was a quick sketch of the street in front of the new food market in Merchant Street.

Just a quick 10 min sketch with a biro (all I had on me at the time).
I love that in my sketch book I have various sketches of Malta over the past 5 years that I have been visiting. I find it a great way of recording what I do on the holiday (as I rarely get round to scrapbooking these days-it is another thing on my ever expanding to do list).

More Malta photos to come!

A new technique

As some of you may know I belong to Bristol Urban Sketchers.
A couple of meet ups ago I was chatting to a very talented young lady who was using oil pastels and tissue paper to create a sort of print impression.

I was so impressed I remembered that I have some oil pastels and tissue paper at home so thought I would have a go.

First I coloured the tissue paper with oil pastel

then I used a biro to sketch my design onto the tissue paper

then you lift the paper to reveal the picture.
I really like this effect and its something I think I will experiment more with.

WOYWW

Hello peeps, its Wednesday again so that can only mean "What's on your Workdesk Wednesday" when we bare all for the lovely Julia (see here for details).

After being on my hols for the past couple of weeks that means that my desk is bare, apart from my tags and ink pens that I take with me on holidays/day trips to leave some "art abandonment" or "free art friday" pieces (search for these two phrases on facebook to see the awesome art people from across the globe leave for people to find.

My 'Man Bites Dog' cards this week are 'Rare Missing Movie Stuns Judge'-ooh I like this headline.

Happy crafting
