WOYWW 4th Anniversary

 Hello and Happy WOYWW Anniversary.
4 years of legal snooping at desks, all thanks to the lovely Julia who runs it (and magnificently so if I may say).

This year we are taking part in a WOYWW ATC swap, I have made a few and will be taking half a dozen to the WOYWW crop on Saturday if you are able to go.

If you would like an ATC then please leave a comment and message me your address and I will pop one in the post.

On my desk this week is my 365 Challenge journal pages being made up ready for June.
My "Man Bites Dog" cards this week?  "Killer General Sues Brave Cop!"-after the last few cards I have picked I don't think I will comment on what I think it may mean!!

I will keep this short and sweet as I am sure there will be a few more desks to try and visit this week!
If you are lucky enough to come to the WOYWW crop on Saturday, then I look forward to seeing you there.

Free art at the beach...and a shark

How fabulous, another sunny (albeit a little chilly) bank holiday weekend (well for those of you who are in England).

We headed down to the coast for the long weekend and whilst sat on Sidmouth beach I decided to get my pens and pencils out and draw on a few carefully chosen pebbles.

I only painted a few and on the back I decided to write my blog details...I then set them free at various points up and down the beach.

Imagine my delight when someone commented my blog stating that their 6yr old son had found one!!!  Fabulous, I don't know which one or where it has ended up, but I hope that anyone who finds one will delight in finding a little bit of art on the beach.

Now, I couldn't resist posting this photo

I spotted this shark kite being flown at Budleigh Salterton yesterday....it certainly made me look twice!

So, if you are down Sidmouth in East Devon and spot one of my pebbles, I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed making it.

Hello one and all to What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday!  Not sure what I am blathering about?  Check out the lovely Julia's blog to legally snoop at desks around the globe.

Here's mine....

Reasonably tidy desk today. The beady eyed amongst you may have spotted the bag of ATC's all ready for next week!! (if you'd like one please message me).
My "Man Bites Dog" cards this week are:  "Brave Model Stuns Cruel Terror Judge"! I dread to even turn the news on today having just picked them out!!

I have also made another card and 'tore' the paper to make it look like the cat has!!

I am keeping it short and sweet (as requested by Julia).

Chaotic Studio

Ooh get me, blogging twice in one day!
This is just a quick update, I am watching on BBC4 a programme about Artists from 1939-66 and they just showed a clip of Francis Bacon studio (you can see a clip of his studio here)

His chaotic studio produced some amazing pieces of work....if you take part in WOYWW then have a look a the link and feel slightly better about the state of your desk!!

WOYWW

Hello everyone...well its now wet, windy and cold again!!! The heating has gone back on, the fluffy socks dragged out of the closet and I am contemplating making stew for supper!!
But at least I don't have to water the garden or top up the pond at the moment!!

It's Wednesday again, so its time to join Queen Julia and the other WOYWWers to have a legal snoop at desks around the world.

Here is mine

Lots of bits and bobs strewn across my desk at the moment as I am trying to have a bit of a sort out (the idea was to bring some bits and bobs to the swap table at the WOYWW crop-but I ended up passing them to a friend so I need to have another look through my drawers!!).

On the left (hidden under my archival inkpad) is a bag with my WOYWW ATC.  If you'd like to receive one, please let me know (if your coming on the 1st then let me know if you'd like one and I will bring it in person-I'm not at all excited about the crop!!!  Can u tell?!).

At the back of the desk is a plastic box with some die cut letters (cut from a Dorset cereal box-the card is white on the inside of the box so perfect for inking later) and my new X Cut alphabet die.  Now, I had the TH Word Play die, and I loved it, especially as it would cut thicker materials....BUT..and its a big but...it didn't work!  Several of the letters wouldn't cut.  I sent it back, complained on many occasions and it seems I am now the only one.  I got my money back (it was a LOT more expensive than the less than a tenner X cut one I now use).  Its such a shame, but the X Cut one does work a treat and so far I am really pleased (not bought any of their dies before).

My "Man Bites Dog" cards this week are "convict cop mourns crazy romantic angel"......plain odd this week!

In a bid to clear up the room of stash I thought I would actually make a card (I know, I cannot remember the last time I made a card, I don't seem to do much paper craft these days) from the bits and bobs in my scrap box I keep on my desk

It's weird, I can have these scraps in the box for literally years and suddenly inspiration strikes and before you know it there's a card!!  Why oh why doesn't it work like that more often!!

If you would like a legal snoop at desks then please come and join us here

Latest mixed media canvas

Afternoon all.....so in the UK we are back to cold, wet and windy!!  Mind you, the Bank Holiday was glorious, so we shouldn't complain too much!

I thought I would blog another canvas I have made.

This one is much paler and gentle and is one I made just a few days after my dad's death.  I have used many layers of acrylics in cream and whites with some touches of yellow and blush.  I added some texture with some paste and this time I added an inclusion (top right).

I added 4 jigsaw pieces which I painted and added a little gold foiling to the edges and some charcoal to ground the pieces.

I added some stronger colours to the bottom of the piece with oil pastels

The inclusion was made by cutting through the canvas and adding a matchbox tray which I painted and then added texture paste to blend it in with some acrylic, oil and charcoal to bring the piece together.

 I hope you like it.

WOYWW

Busy day today so this is scheduled from last night otherwise it will be late before I can post this.

It's time for the weekly cry of "Wednesday...already!!!" from across the globe as we have a legal snoop at desks..some clean...others are not (guess which category mine comes in to!!).

So on my desk this week are some flyers from the Spike Island open day hubby and I went to on Saturday.  Spike Island is an art co operative in Bristol.  A mahoosive building with 3 floors of art studios not normally open to the public...but once a year they do...and boy was it buzzing.
There is a bar, tours, sculpture, paintings, video installations......lots to see and do all for free!

My "Man Bites Dog" cards this week..."Crooked Hubby Tricks Missing Beauty Teen"....now that really is odd as the news has just broken about those missing girls in America that escaped after over 10 years being held captive!!!

If you fancy having a nose at desks...then pop over to the lovely Julias WOYWW blog...go on, you know you want to!!

365 Challenge

Hello, I hope you had a fabulous bank holiday (if you get one)...it was lovely and sunny so not much crafting got done here I can tell you!

I did manage to catch up with downloading some of my photos though and realised I have not yet blogged my finished April and new May 365 Calendar challenge for Kate Cranes blog.

April pages were bright and breezy....though it was a rotten month (personally) at least the pages were cheerful!

As the leaves are starting to flourish I thought I would do green pages for May.  I added some vintage music paper and intend to add some stamping as the month goes on.

Right, its still sunny out so gardening and washing are beckoning!

A new painting

I hope you have been able to enjoy the sun.....I have given the house a good old blow through and managed to wash the net curtains.....how very middle aged of me!!!

In an attempt to get some crafting done I decided to use some of the painting supplies that my dad was using before he died.

The canvas has many layers of acrylic paint and also acrylic inks with some iridescence to add a little shimmer.

I think dad would have been pleased.

Happy crafting....I now have to clear up the mess before hubby get home!!!

Some new mail art

Hello peeps.  Just a quick update.
So as you may know I have been dabbling with 'mail art' and sending naked art through our great british postal system!!

This is the latest one I have made and posted to a friend of mine.

I used my homemade stencil of a girl with dylusion inks, some texture paste and posca pens....hopefully the recipient has already seen this!!

WOYWW

Morning all, how's you?  Enjoying the sun?
On my desk this week is my 365 Challenge journal pages that I am making for the month of May.  The past month has been an absolute pig....everything from root canals, my Rheumatoid Arthritis flaring, being stressed at work through to my dad dying....not a month I would like to repeat!

So, I thought I would do bright greens and yellows for May, nice and cheery

My "Man Bites Dog" cards this week are "Swinging Judge Defends Secret Nude Teen!!"....lets not mention operation yewtree!!

Now, if you'd like a legal snoop at workdesks across the globe, then pop over to Julia's blog to see the list of desks (there are SO many......some clean (freakily so) some not so!!).

Happy crafting
