Craft fair haul

 Thursday saw me take a day off work and spend a lovely day with the Coven at the Craft 4 Crafters event, a whole day with likeminded people, craft classes and stash.

I was VERY restrained and bought items on my list, card blanks and cello bags (as I have almost run out), a guitar die (forgot to take a photo) and some magnetic sheets (as I store all my thin dies in a homemade ring binder on these sheets.

Then I came across a stall (sewing-sanctuary.com) selling cotton backed laminated fabric, think, robust yet flexible-I am thinking messenger bag or wash bag-only £4 for a fat quarter so I bought these two as I fell in love with the designs (they were NOT on my list!)

 I also bought from the Weston Super Mare quilters stall this pen/pencil holder which fits perfectly on my urban sketchers book (and it was only £3 and all for charity!)

We also signed up for a glass bunting class, it was with the same company we made the glass hanger last year (Glass Garden Studio)

It took 1.5hrs and we came away with a lovely piece of handmade bunting

Which in the end I decided to hang across the top of one of my bookcases (just below a fabric doll I made with Coven a few years ago).

A great day out and I do love glass making, over the years I have made a window hanger, blown a paperweight, blown a hanging glass bauble and now bunting-happy days.

Another fabric stash busting make

 Hello peeps, just a quick catch up as I just realised when I blogged about the Christmas presents I made this year I forgot to include the handbag I made for my mum!

I love Debbie Shore's bag pattern (a HUGE thanks to LLJ for introducing me to her patterns, I have made this bag several times since) so back in the summer I opened up my fabric stash and asked mum to choose the colours she liked.

From the various fabrics she pulled out I made her this bag with two pockets on the front (perfect for tissues, travel card, notebook etc)

 all lined with a gusseted zip for security and another pocket inside

  and a plain back so it lies nicely against the body

A bright and colourful handbag and totally my mum's colours.

Now, I had a list.......

Honest guv, I did....I took ages to write down what I needed, split it into inks, stamps, journalling etc......then within 30 mins of entering the Bath and West craft show I realised that most of the stuff I wanted wasn't being sold there.....so I ended up with this haul!!!!

It was blowing a hooley....and the Coven went for the day out, it was fab....crafting goodies, choccies (thanks Becky), biccies (thanks Trace) and lots of laughing and gossip.  

Now, as you know I like my journalling and altered art....thankfully ali craft and snazzy's both had a stall which is where a lot of this haul came from......there are VERY few places in the west country that stocks these goodies (big hint if you run, design or work for one......we are screaming out for something down these parts!!) so I was very grateful they were there (though my hubby may not agree!!)

Ali craft had some reduced 7Gypsies and Tim Holtz goodies and Snazzys had the lovely Dylusion stamps.

So, fuelled by choccies and a mug of hot steaming tea we shopped....and shopped a bit more!!  

I wore my WOYWW badge but no one approached me......but I wore it with pride nonetheless!

Now, I am organised for a change...I have booked tomorrow as a days leave from work so I can play!!  I am going to go to bed excited and wake up REALLY early (well that is the plan....a film and red wine are actually calling as I type this so it may not be as early as I would like!!!! LOL!)

Crafty Stash and an Owl!

Another week is finally over, and with rain forcast for the weekend I am hoping I can get some more crafting done (it feels like a guilty pleasure crafting when the sun is shining, mind you making the felt outside in the garden did solve the problem!).

This week I visited my parents and managed to come away with a variety of stash that I am hoping I can have a go at altering, some boxes, metal locks and a whole host of bits and pieces that I hope to give a second chance to.

Also, we both had a day off this week so ventured into town and whilst my OH did a "poster run" (he is in 2 bands and puts on gigs, so often looks for places to put his posters up) I went to a great craft shop in town, Craft Works, a large craft shop that covers all sorts of crafts - I couldn't resist a few bits and pieces,including some sheet metal that they explained how to use - I am looking forward to having a go at altering that!

Then my lovely husband met me and knowing my love of owls bought me a money box to save for crafty stash, in the shape of an owl, make with beautiful Kimono Silks.

I just need to think of a name for him now, if anyone has any ideas...?

The only crafting I have managed to do is to incorporate my handmade felt into a brooch. I used bought felt and my own felt, a large button for the centre adding blanket stitching and sequins (I am not very good with a needle - even as a child I struggled and things havent got much better!).

I am quite pleased with it and will probably wear it on my handbag and maybe a black jacket - I could get hooked on this felting (sorry, bad pun).
