WOYWW

Hello peeps, so I finally got a few days off work last week and was able to walk away from the screens! Out in the country with no wifi access and poor phone signal and the allotment, where your hands are so dirty you daren't touch a screen!  I also got some happy mail!  Thanks Susan Renshaw, we swapped postcards and ATC for the anniversary and I was so chuffed to get someone from Australia.

On my desk this week (it was last night as the desk is filled with work otherwise) I decided to have a play with some pre stamped images and colour in with my inktense pencils.

My "Man Bites Dog" cards this week are 'Teen Heiress Falls for Convict' - ooh!

I also spent a lot of last week preserving with rhubarb and strawberries off the allotment (we picked over 5lb strawberries in one day!!).  I made Rhubarb chutney (in total I have 41 jars made!!), Strawberry Jam and Strawberry vinegar and also a big double batch of elderflower cordial.  I will try to remember to upload a couple of photos in the next couple of days.

So, what's on your workdesk this Wednesday?

Kyla

  1. I got one from Susan too and it does look like a lovely part of the world doesn't it? Good MBD. Funny thing this week was I saw something that reminded me of the movie Man Bites Dog and I had to go look to see if it was still available and it is. Feel like serendipity calls for me to watch it again nearly 30 years later. Love the card too, and the ... bag? Art IS everything!

Trying for an early start this week!
    Happy WOYWW

  2. My goodness, you have been productive. I love rhubarb and my favourite tipple has become rhubarb gin (sh!). How on earth do you store 41 jars of chutney? My second favourite drink is elderflower cordial. I remember a friend, years ago, asking if I wanted some elderflowers to make wine. I said "yes" not realising I had to pick all the flower off the florets. Two huge carrier bags later and sore fingers and a very bog eyed me I set to and started the process. Never again!
Funnily enough I am colouring in with Inktense too.

    1. ah Neet I store them in my garage (on racking behind my car, only a small single garage sadly). Yes re the elderflower there is a trick, use a fork to draw through and take them off the stalk, OR, do what I do and only pick close to the head and then dont bother detatching them, I find its the thicker stalks that make it taste bitter.

  3. 41 jars? My god woman, you could live on that alone! We have wild strawberries growing in the wreck of a patio that was the patio, then a building supplies site and is now a wreck of weeds and stones…but one job at a time, and the indoor stuff has been the priority this year. Anyway, the wild strains are just gorgeous, so sweet and often quite small, but I don’t expect we yield 5lbs of them in a whole season, never mind one picking! I can only imagine that the previous owner had a strawberry plant at some point. Twenty five years ago!! Loving the MBD, totally believable. Very happy to read that you’ve had time off and even more fresh air. Good for the soul.

  4. You are so busy, I felt like a slacker reading all you accomplished while off work. You have really been canning a LOT and making vinegar, too. You must never slow down.

That is a cute image and very nicely colored, too. Loved the MBD today. I bet it's happened more than once, too. Happy WOYWW from # 5.

  6. Wow you have been busy in the produce making. Do you get through all that chutney or do you make presents of it? My mother in law is the family’s queen of jam and pickle making, but alas her eyesight is failing and she has stopped. She had quite a hive of industry going as she sold the produce to support a Breast Cancer charity. Happy WOYWW Angela #9

  7. So pleased that my ATCS have started to arrive!
I am very impressed with the amount of preserving you have been doing. We always did lots when we still lived in the UK but then we had the allotment for produce!
    Happy WOYWW!

  10. Happy WOYWW. You have been very busy and productive. We are lucky to have a jam/chutney business just down the road from us and she has a small farm shop now, so we go there to get all our preserves. Saves me a lot of time and effort. Ali x #24

  12. Sometimes it's good to walk away from your desk and do something different even if it means being even more busy than usual. I shall watch the news carefully for the Teen Heiress Lol! Wonder what else she may get up to Lol! Hope you are having a very happy and creative woyww. Sending hugs, Angela x17x
