Woyww
Happy What's on your workdesk Wednesday. Different desk as this was last night after work, been chucking it down all day then clear blue sunny sky for the evening so too good an opportunity and popped down the allotment for a couple hours.
Strawberries (under the black netting at the back) are riping and being eaten by slugs etc in all this wet weather so I made some slug traps from old yoghurt pots, with little slots cut in and folded in (to make it more difficult for them to slide back out), buried and filled with water, yeast, flour and sugar.
tried this for the past few years, often have to empty them so worth trying again.
Sort of crafting as its upcycling and making something!!

Happy Knitting Day WOYWW
ReplyDeleteDarling Daughter had a little international evening at her assisted living housing, and one of the carers, Japanese I think, brought the white bread+cream+strawberries sandwiches and they were astonishingly lovely, both to see and to eat! Never managed to grow any here, but then 90% of our garden is taken up with BBQ stuff LOL!

Your slug tip is excellent, I hope you get a good crop of strawberries.

Hope your strawberries survive the slugs! Have a great week. Happy woyww Helen #1
ReplyDeleteI hadn’t heard of that mixture to ward off slugs, hope it works!

The weather here has been very similar, it's quite sunny at the moment. It's my lettuce that the slugs seem to like best rather than the strawberries but I'm not holding my breath. Your method sounds quite good, might try it. Wishing you a very happy woyww, hugs Angela x10x
ReplyDeleteI hope your strawberry crop does well. My wife and I tried, but the squirrels kept eating them. Happy WOYWW!
ReplyDeleteHello Kyla, we've had horrid rainy weather here too and Silver and I are fed up with it. I've one flower on one of my two strawberry plants growing in pots - hope this keeps the slugs away, if not the birds! Have a great rest of WOYWW day - hopefully in your allotment because it's not raining down your way. Elizabeth #12
ReplyDeleteWhat do you do with the slugs you capture? They really are the munchiest creatures, I don’t grow veg but they don’t seem to mind whether it’s fruit or flower! Hope you enjoy some strawberries, just the thought of them makes me happy!
ReplyDeleteI really hope your slug traps work well Kyla so you can enjoy the strawberries. Stay safe and Happy Belated WOYWW. Sarah
