WOYWW

Hello peeps, welcome to yet another Wednesday!!  I know, they come round quicker each week, but at least the Spring is here and the days are longer-which is always a good thing.

So, What's on my Workdesk this Wednesday?

Well, its a bit of a work in progress.  After seeing MaryAnne's amazing ATC's she is making for the swap and crop I thought I should at least start thinking about it!!

So, I had a think as to what crafting I am known for...that didn't help as it would mean soldering, LED's, ink, stitching, leather, metal, paper...the list goes on!  Yep, I am a jack of all trades and master of none!

I had a think and have started with my colourwheel to choose some inks.....I am not sure where they will go from here...I am freewheeling it a bit-fingers crossed they turn out ok!

On the left of the desk is my poundland paint spreader cum stamp cleaner-Shaz mentioned it at the last WOYWW crop and I went straight out and bought one-saving myself over a tenner on a proper one!!

My "Man Bites Dog" cards this week are "Blind Wife Sues Mystery Angel"....ooh, a bit of an odd one.

So, if you would like a legal snoop as desks across the globe, then all you need to do is pop over the Queen of the desks, Julia

Happy Crafting

  1. Kyla, I love that stamp cleaner. Is it really called a paint spreader? I want to get one, but didn't know what they were called, especially here in the states I've wanted one since I first saw them several years ago.

I have to thank you for visiting me so much this past week. I'm very grateful, even though I might not have shown it by returning the favor.

I look forward to seeing your ATCs. BTW, are you going to this year's crop?

You asked about how I attached the lid in my assemblage. Other than PVA glue that I used to attach the paper to the wood, EVERYTHING, including the poly clay, was attached using E-6000, which is silicone based. If you aren't familiar with it, you have to make sure to dry things flat, because they have a tendency to slip and slide if you dry your object at an angle. And be prepared to leave the piece for at least four hours before moving it.

I'm not playing this week, but when you have time, please let me know if you are going to the crop in May.

  2. Well, a useful tool AND a bargain! Doesn't get better than that, lol!!! I bet you'll use it loads too.
I've got to get my head around the ATCs too - Julia has very kindly offered me the use of her workroom as it'll only be the second time I'll have ever stamped anything! I've already earmarked one of her stamps that I'm going to use...grin :-)

  3. Looking forward to seeing them but felling guilty if me getting an early start is causing people to panic :) I just know I needed to do them when the time was there or I'd end up with like two.... And the cheapo tool? Great find, well done to Shaz, and gotta love saving money for REAL supplies when something unusual will do the job. Can't wait to see your ATCs...wanna trade? :)

    Happy WOYWW!

  4. About E-6000: I remember Julia doing one of her "non-paid" type posts, where she goes on about some silicone based glue she uses when she's not working with paper. It's been years ago, and I can't find it on her blog. You can ask her what it was called, because I remember mentioning in my comment it sounded much like E-6000. It was something you can find in the UK and, if memory serves, you don't have to order on the internet, either. Hope that helps.

BTW, did you know they quit giving free wallpaper samples in the US? I used to get lots of anaglyptus wall paper, and now I wish I could find samples because they are perfect for adding texture and marks to paint. Simply lay down paint, then lay wallpaper over the wet paint, remove wallpaper, enjoy the texture. Bet it would work well with gelli plates, too.

  9. G'day Kyla
I haven't participated in WOYWW for maybe 9 months and I am trying to get to as many as I can this week...have fun making yr ATC's and I love the green pink colours under yr colour wheel. Oh I have the stamp cleaner cum paint spreader too. I've used for 15yrs or so...great tool it is. I just store it in an old plastic baby wipe container. I'm a steampunk jewellery maker and smiled at the bit about your into soldering, LED's and metal....right up my ally indeed

  12. So knocked out by Mary Anne's planning thought and results that I'm a bit scared. I like the idea that you're free wheeling...I think that's your greatest skill girly...that and lack of fear!
