Woyww
Happy What's on your workdesk Wednesday. slightly different desk as its actually my sofa not desk! Hubby lost a button on his decent winter coat so I thought I would sew a replacement....only to find the edging to all the button holes ripped and both the armpits in the lining too!!!
I had no idea how to sew these properly as never mended arm holes but gave it a go! this was in the evening and it took over 2 hrs!! 'mare, but saved money, a coat and I taught myself what to do, so productive and saved hubbys expensive posh winter coat (admittedly bought many years ago from a charity shop!!).

Isn’t that the best sort of crafting though? Definitely worth a bit of effort to save a quality coat from landfill and have a good few years more use. Great job!

Well done Kyla, you are braver than me. I’ve just taken my kilt to the tailors shop to get the hem stitched back up. It would have been a right mish mash if I’d done it and would probably have come down again haha

Great job! Sometimes if the nylon is frayed it’s tricky, but always worth trying. My husbands pockets get smaller when I repair them 🤣. Hugs Angela #13
ReplyDeleteGreat sewing you did a good job of it well done. Hugs Bj#3
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a good job done. Somewhere on the lining would be a piece that is sewn at the last point of production that can easily be unstitched if you want to sew from inside the lining but your job looks fine. Wishing you a very happy woyww. Hugs Angela x4x
ReplyDeleteyou really do put your hand to all sorts - well done you! I can barely sew a button on well; I had to sew up the hem of a skirt recently, it wasn't a pretty result! Happy WOYWW Helen #1
ReplyDeleteThat was a good job, Kyla. I don’t like giving up on clothes either but my better half draws the line at sashiko on his jeans 😀.
ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW

Great save on the coat Kyla - definitely better than sending it to the landfill. Over at Mum's and feeling a bit better. Stay safe and happy belated WOYWW. Sarah
ReplyDeletecongrats on learning a new skill!
ReplyDeleteAbout 25 years ago I made a very heavy terry bathrobe my husband loved. i've repaired it multiple times. I finally broke down at Christmas and gave him 2 new ones. One for winter and one for warmer weather. He loves the both but asked that I not throw the old one away. See if I can fix.. just in case. LOL
