Morning all, just a quick update for what's on your workdesk Wednesday, its via my new phone hence i have NO idea how to turn the photo round!!
My desk today is my dining room table as i sort through my seed box for the next sowing. I know a lot of allotment holders put their beds to sleep come winter but i must admit i never have. I often sow lettuce, turnips, beetroot, spring onions, land cress, spinach and chard. All can be harvested as they grow and if they are strong i cover them with cloches and try to over winter them. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt. When it does its great picking salads in december!
So, whats on your workdesk?
Kyla
It’s amazing what can be grown over winter, such a treat to have fresh salads!

I could tell you how to turn the photograph if it is an IPhone, I would think all phones have the same sort of facility. Let me know if you can’t figure it out or Google! Fresh vegetables are a treat any time of the year. Do you have to add manure to the ground every year? Happy WOYWW. Angela #12
ReplyDeleteI dont tend to add manure but I do add my homemade compost to the soil each year and every few years I buy in some rotted compost to top up
DeleteHow cool to have fresh salad over winter Kyla. Trying to visit as many desks as possible before we head up to Scarborough for three nights. Stay safe and Happy WOYWW. Sarah #15
ReplyDeleteI've had another busy morning with my fittings/sewing plus I have now finished the eye spy quilt so am taking a break to visit all my fav blogs.
ReplyDeleteI keep meaning to do some more planting up of our little raised bed but as yet haven't found the time.
I will be MIA for a couple of weeks so will catch up with you when I return.
Hugs,

Hi Kyla, I'm here just been a bit distracted today. Sorry because I'm sure I've used that excuse before Lol! I'm useless on my phone so can't help you there. The Man bites Dog looks interesting. As I am on my laptop I managed to turn it round and read it Hee! Hee! Wishing you a very happy and productive woyww, Angela x11x
ReplyDeleteI hate having to get used to a new phone! at least you managed to post from yours, I can't work it from mine! I don't blame you for trying to keep the allotment going over winter and yes, salad in winter is great Have a good week Helen #1
ReplyDeleteI always did winter sewing in out UK allotment. Now here in OZ we are looking forward to planning a new garden...the veggie patch at this house has become empty as we look forward to the move...

I have that problem. Sometimes even when I flip a photo it still uploads the wrong way. I find if you flip it then SAVE it it usually works. At some point in Mac OS they made it so if you do anything to a photo it automatically saves it but offers you the option to REVERT to any saved version. Since then it seem hit or miss if the upload does the original of the rotated one. DOH! "Improvements" sometimes aren't... Wish our back yard "garden" had produced anything but red onions and chilis this year LOL! Well flowers, yes but not edible ones. Maybe one year....

December salad sounds wonderful, happy sowing. My nasturtiums turned out really well this year so we are busy collecting the seedpods for me to sow in the spring again. Might start a month earlier next year. BJ#10
